We go through life Having no idea of the reach on we affect people, many we never meet.
I have never met H20 Toie, aka Danimal, aka, Dan, maybe someday I will have the experience...
Here's what he did for me, If Dan can lose 100lbs, I can lose 25..

I've been blessed with good genetics and don't have real weight issues as some.
LIke many, I always put on few lbs over the Holiday's. Usually it drops off.
However, the past several years it hasn't. Already gone up one size, now these were getting tight.
That's it, I'm done... And I say to myself and issue the Challenge, If Dan can lose a 100, I certainly can lose 25...
Challenge on...

First thing to challenge are lifestyle and habits.
I know some people who have dropped 20 - 45 lbs doing strict dieting.
Since I'm doing this on my own, My plan is to cut all sweets, limit the carbs, no breads, pastas, rice, potatoes etc...
Focus on proteins and vegetables.

I do small commercial projects and drive around all day from site to site.
1. This is obvious, no donuts, bagels or whatever with the coffee on the way in.
As obvious as this is, it's harder to break than you realize when you've been doing it for 30+ yrs.
Get up earlier and have a couple eggs, Granola and yogart, whatever to get started. No Breads...
Bring a mid morning snack, apple, banana...something.
2. Lunch is an issue as I never prepare or bring anything. Get up way to early for that.
It's always a drive through on the way to somewhere.
My go to becomes a Carl's Jr. Famous Angus, lettuce wrap with no cheese, with unsweetend Ice Tea.
Jack in the Crack used to have a Fajita Pita that they replaced with a Jack Wrap..
Mix in Farmer Boy's salad or In and Out from time to time.
3. Dinner is whatever the wife fixes, some kind of protein, chicken, steak.. with some veggies and or salad.
4. Now, after dinner snack...Found this 'Air Popper' stuffed away in a cabinet, didn't even know we had it.
Share a bowl popcorn with the Wife watching a movie, ball game whatever. Off to bed rinse and repeat.

I started this on Jan. 2 and added another Challenge, Alcohol Free in January..
And extended the Challenge to Super Bowl, as it's all off that day.... :)
Made it all the way to the Friday before..

Had my annual at the Dr's office on March 11, was down 17lbs and kind of hit a wall. He was very happy to hear I as serious as all my Vitals were good..
He suggested Intermittant fasting. 10 on, 14 off. Goes like this, eat within a 10 hr period, then 14 off.
Nothing but water during that 14 hrs. Basically don't eat anything after your last evening meal.
Which means missing breakfast. Kind of a big deal for me. When the hunger bugs would hit, I would tell myself
to relax, you're burning fat. Another 5 lbs gone in two weeks. Down 22...
Went back to breakfast, we'll see. Not sure why, but Friday the 28th, Boom down 25...

It's stayed off till this weekend, I cheated.... Alot...... Put on a few..:)
Back on it tomorrow..
Throughout all of this when I would get down or challenged, I would remind myself, If Dan can lose 100, I can lose 25.
So Danimal, you were the driving force behind this and didn't even know it......... now you do.... Thank you...

Soooo, here's a Challenge, if Dan can lose 100, me 25... Who's next.....

I have dropped atleast 25lbs(maybe more as I do not weigh myself) since January. Biggest thing was I quit drinking. Have not had a single drink. Cut out the majority of bad sugars. Instead of cookies and ice cream in the evenings. Instead its Cuties, watermelon, apples, grapes, baby carrots, celery, well you get the point. I have never been a breakfast eater so I started having a banana and other fruits in the morning on my drive to work. I forgot how much I love some good fruit as I hadn't eaten any in years except here and there. Lunch isnt much just enough to curb my appetite. Dinner has been more cooking at home instead of going out almost every night. And cut out the drive through's. I've never really been a soda drinker so that's easy. Its amazing how much better I feel and how much more energy I have. Dont get me wrong we still go out for dinner ect. I dont really consider it a diet( those never last. It's a mental thing) more like just changing what I eat. I think the alcohol was the biggest factor because I never ate much(just grab a beer🤣). And the "shitty" food. Because I eat alot more now, just better!

Solid post! Dan is the Man!! 👍

I need to drop 10. My goal is to do it in the next month or so. Like @OC Mike posted, I too have been blessed with good genes, but as we get older, and the metabolism slows down, it becomes a little bit harder each year. My plan is to limit sodas and those tempting and unnecessary shakes from the fast food joints, and increase my water consumption. I'll try and eat sensible quantities for lunch and dinner, but stop before I'm actually "Full." I'll mix in a little cardio here and there and see where that gets me. We just got back from a week-long vacation filled with excessive food consumption, so I'm highly motivated to drop what I've gained.

Who's next?!

@OC Mike that 10 hour window needs to be closer to 8. No food after 7pm. Also the point of fasting is to put your body into near ketosis. ANY carbs mess that up, and lots of common vegetables and fruit are contributors to your overall carb count. The easiest meal by far to skip is breakfast, it just takes a little mental effort. Every item you mentioned like fruit, yogurt, granola etc. is totally off limits. And popcorn at night will give back any gains you made during the day.
I lost 50 pounds (down from 300) in 9 months by doing literally nothing other than cutting out any food before noon or after 7pm. Get some keto strips to keep yourself honest and assess where you are at.

I started my low carb diet at the beginning of the year, so far I’ve dropped 30 lbs. It’s been chicken salads with bacon bits, jalapeño Jack cheese cubes, tri tip cut thin with spicy guacamole, shredded spaghetti squash mixed with Italian sausage cooked in pasta sauce, smoked meats, with salads. You gotta watch out for some fruits and vegetables as they are loaded with carbs. I’m still having my morning coffee and adding a container of caramel Premier Protein into my 30oz. Yeti cup for a sweetener (it was suggested in an earlier post). I do those egg bites that are similar to the ones from Starbucks that I heat up in the microwave at work for breakfast - they only have 6 carbs for 2 of them. I do an occasional cheat meal of pizza or burger with a bun because the protein burgers suck - you need a bun on a hamburger. I do have an occasional beer here and there without any negative effects.

Im trying to drop another 20 and see if I can maintain it.

My wife and daughter have been giving me a serious ration of shit lately about my weight.
Made me get on the scale yesterday. Yep, apparently, I'm the heaviest I've ever been.

Solid advice 👍 - and just an additional note of encouragement; the more carbs you actually manage to cut out when you are eating your meals - the easier that fasting window is to maintain.
I lost about 30 lbs during covid doing this - and kept it off.

Danimal has inspired me to lose the extra weight. Been at 240 thru the winter, down from 265 last fall.
Some carb elimination and beer intake helped. And more exercise. Goal is 225, still a ways to go. Probably still overweight at 225, but I think reasonable for 6'3.
