This seems to be the uncommon size. Who would stock these or even better if there’s a plumber that can come. That would be great.

Thank you.

What you using 3/8 for?
I don't know of any spot in Parker.
Even here with 5 local supply houses my bet would be a adapter from 3/8 to 1/2 and 1/2 available. Never seen 3/8 and I got Pack outs for days full of pex and no adapters on both my rigs.

That sucks, I don’t know if Home Depot or Lowe’s would have it in a pinch or not I’ve never noticed it.
Just checked and no go for those stores. Going to check out the smaller stores tomorrow.

Is it gray in color? Since it's a mobile home, it might be poly B, which is a different size than PEX. You can get an adapter that allows conversion to PEX. I've gotten them at Home Depot before. I can do a little research on what I bought if it helps.

You may be able to use a compression to pipe, like on an airbag setup.

Yep probably Poly Butelene if original to the mobile.

Like Wizard posted need a sharkbite to transition.

I had some in my mobile and a mix of other stuff patched in. Tore it all out 5 years ago and replaced with Uponor pex.

My plans to go out this weekend went to shit thanks to work. But if somehow I can make it I will post up and can grab whatever before I roll out.

Post pics if possible.

If you're leaving, I wouldn't worry about fixing it. 🤣 Fix it on your next trip out when you have all the parts necessary. 👍

Thats not poly b.

Is that a crimp tool for pex?

Looks like half inch pex from pic. It's to late for me to hit the alarm on my rig and measure the diameter of a piece but can in the morning.

I agree, looks like 1/2" I'm rusty in my Plumbing knowledge, but here goes free advice.
The size gauge is a go-no go tool for the compression ring that goes on the fitting and that you crimp.

There are a few different types of connectors now, but when PEX first became popular it was all compression rings.

I assume you want an angle stop on that I believe there are a few choices for these now as well including sharkbite.

The only time I've seen 3/8" run like this is with the Maniblock system where every line is a home run to a single large manifold with shutoff valves for each.

Know the difference between pex a and b. The pic above is pex b. When you look at an end cut of pex the b looks to be a solid color. The A will look like a color coating on the outside an a clear look to the inside.

Pex a and be fittings are not interchangeable. Pex a is referred to as expansion pex. The fitting are full pipe diameter and the pipe has to be expanded. No loss in flow.

Pex b the fitting goes inside the pipe and has a smaller opening reducing flow.

Those zip ties look clean.
Is there a vent for the drain? If not you could of used a San T and ran a short piece of pipe up and used a AAV altho not preferred. But better than no vent.

Fill in that gap between the pipe unless it's sealed good below. Those Parker kangaroo mice will get in there.

It’s sealed below. I need to go buy some covers. I only had one size hole saw with me.

I am on a plumbing forum and see the pics posted of them failing. Not common but when they do its wide open until someone shuts off the main.

If he had poly B that would be his option to transition from. They have there place. But I would not recommend using them if you can avoid it.

So what’s the consensus on your plumbing forum for a re-pipe, Pex A?

I only use Uponor pex A. All uponor fittings and copper uponor stub outs. It's more expensive but I have to warranty it. Everywhere where copper is needed like in a garage or exposed I have been using type K copper with brass sweat on uponor transitions.

The new houses i built the same way. Have to warranty for 10 years per CA on new build.

You can buy pex b for half the price at HD and lowes. It's even cheaper at contractors Warehouse. CW also has pex a now Apollo It's half the price of uponor.

Between the hard water here and so many vacation homes it’s crazy how many flood calls we get.
Mine was from a monsoon. That did a bunch of damage, but I’ve had copper leaks in my garage. The plumber did a piss poor job of installing it. Lots of rough edges and hard water. Nothing like being in an attic in August.🤣

Thanks, kind of what I was leaning towards. Thinking of buying the tools and doing it myself cause I’m a cheapskate.🤣

At the plumbing convention there is more restoration company booths than plumbing. We do have a lot of pinhole leaks here.

Amount of restoration companies is crazy. I see there vans all over.

It's so bad most homeowners insurance companies are requiring a auto shut off with leak detection.

Majority of the hack jobs I see is on the plumbing. I was only doing plumbing on my kitchen and bathroom remodel jobs until around 5 years ago. Except my own builds and projects. My plumbing rig just for that I had over 100k into it. To do it right. Dedicated rig just for kitchen and bathrooms. Now I got a second rig only plumbing and still have the other. And a second plumbing van.

There is a lot of ways to cut corners and save. But with plumbing it's not worth it. What will kill you on time is not having every fitting, strap or isolator on hand without over buying. It's very hard to plan it all out and buy exactly what you need. I buy it all in bulk and bring 4 times what's needed just in case. Buy a milwuakee expansion tool and when you're done you can sell it for a $100 less than what you paid.

Why I shut everything off.

Makes sense when no one is around, but I bet that could be the cause at the same time. No water in the system and things start to dry out.

My River pad I shut it off every time I leave. But leave it under pressure. My biggest concern is rodents so I leave out a few bowls of water if I have put out any bait.

It’s funny you say that, there’s a lot of houses in town being retrofitted with pex, and I know some people that are retrofitting pex with copper.

The plumber that originally plumbed this house, I don’t know if he just used the cheaper copper in my garage, that’s where all my leaks have been, or if the water softener has helped prevent leaks on the house. I’m pretty sure it’s not gonna be too long until I find out.🤣

I would consider good copper, but that would be a lot more work in an already built house Not to mention probably more expensive. Honestly, I don’t know.
