If an AO cooler inner liner leaks from a small puncture from a sharp piece of ice or something , a small dab of silicone and you’re good to go !

We use this one a lot. It’s ancient but still going strong. Did just recently get a new liner though.

I use a 12v cooler that sits under the bow. I mounted a 12v outlet to a bulkhead for it. The thing runs all day & keeps the beer and sandwiches cool in 115° heat. I don't remember the name Maybe it is Euhomy, I'll look at it when I get home. Bought it off amazon
I finally got around to the ice chest. It's a Bodega. It has a range of 70 to 10° and has a low voltage shutoff so it won't drain your battery.

Yep - pretty much the same program. I throw out the AOs and do not replace them. The Yeti coolers are a buy once and use frequently product.
My carbon fiber one did the same deal. Straps literally broke off and they told me it wasn’t covered under warranty. I stopped buying them after that

Igloo white 24 or 36 Qt. classic coolers. White differentiates between Boat coolers and all others. Any color but white is a desert cooler, white means boat only.

We are on the river so we're not making it a full day trip, we can always make a run back to the trailer to catch some AC or restock.

It was crazy - the cooler literally had strap disintegration. I sent a guy from my shop to Corona with it and assumed he would be bringing back a replacement. When he came back with a business card and an FU from them I was floored. Nevermind those coolers would never last in any form of salt water environment. The metal zippers would seize up immediately. I get it Yeti makes some stupid yupi stuff but I have not been able to wear out anything I have bought from them. I use the coolers and gear very often.

I have had the same AO for about 15 years now and have beat the ever living shit out of it. Stuffed it so full that the zipper wouldn’t close, put empties back in it, crushed cans and all. Never sprung a leak. The straps FINALLY gave up last summer. I still have it for some reason, not too sure why though hearing about all these warranty issues with them.

I saw these at Dick’s Sporting Goods the other day. Pretty bad ass cause they are tick insulation like the rotomolded Yeti’s and such but are made of Blowmolded plastic so they are WAY lighter and cheaper. I’m pretty tempted to grab one to replace the ol’ trusty AO.

I have one of those igloos, not very impressive imho. My Engle is smaller thinner etc and works twice as well.

Reading the comments I second guess myself but I have had the same 2 AO coolers for almost 5 years now and never had an issue. I pull the crushed cans out immediately when friends put them in. The 48 stacked to the brim where the zipper was hard to close, I just took ice out and it has been fine, beverages still cold even when the ice melts. Some of my friends have had AO for 7+ years and no problem. I guess it comes down to use and abuse..

Every AO I have owned leaked and no empties in them.

I have a air blower here to dry out the boat carpet after using them. If it's hot no need. Will check in the morning if it's still wet from Sunday. Still use the large AO as it's easier to load than the 2 built in coolers.

I've got 3 of these 38 pack AO's. One for my drinks, one for the wifes, and one for water, food, etc. I love em they hold ice great, haven't leaked (yet) and nice that they are flat.

On another note, I bought this hard sided igloo last week for my Utah trip cause my Yeti doesn't fit under my bed cover. I was really surprised how well it kept ice, almost better than the yeti, and WAY lighter. For a hundo from wally world it's my new go to for camping.

We have had the AO coolers going on 20-25 years now. I have only had two fail in that time. One was replaced under warranty and the other I didn't bother because it was a good 15 years old. We currently have two 24s, one that gets dirty in the desert and one that stays nice. We also have a small one for shorter trips. The 12-volt Dometic is used for road trips, camping, or Costco runs in the summer.

There is a 60-qt Cabelas Polar Cap that works fantastically, but we hardly ever use it now that we no longer spend summers in Dante's Inferno. It sits in the garage and takes up space.

A word about the AO coolers @ChrisV, don't drop them on the dock or your boat if they are full. The thread seams will break and this will cause them to leak. That is how the first one I had failed. I'm not sure if that is the case with the new insulation style, haven't drop-tested it to find out. Also, make sure you leave them open to dry for a couple of days. Mildew is a bitch to get out of them. I usually leave them open for a few days to dry completely and then make sure to zip them up so that the spiders and dust don't get inside.

We also have a 28 qt Coleman Extreme that fits perfectly in the back seat and is a great size for day trips. Holds a six-pack and some water and enough room for sandwiches or snacks on top.

Still using two A.O.'s from 2008 and 2010 with no problems, I'm sure we don't boat as much as some, but for many years May thru Oct once or twice a week.

We have had good luck with our AO's. We even have one from maybe 20yrs ago when the company was just the older husband and wife.

I have never taken the time to leave a review but felt the need to give outdoor enthusiast a heads up on AO Coolers quality and lack of keeping a customer. We purchased a 4-pack combo which is only used 3 months out of the year on the boat. We had a problem with one leaking and a carrying strap break which was sent back at our cost and repaired. On another cooler, the carrying strap broke and the top seam split. Again, we sent it back at our cost and they stated that they could not repair the seam and offered to sell us another one with a measly 20% discount. I spoke with the manager at the repair facility, and they held their ground that there was nothing more they could do except offer to take more of our hard-earned money. After having a 50% failure rate we declined and will be looking for something else.

I never had great luck with the AO coolers. Yettis are bitchen but they are proud of them.
I ended up buy an "Ice Mule" and its been solid in the boat and off road car. Keeps drinks cold, no leaks, seems to be pretty well built and not a fortune.
I guess as I get older I get more frugel... I used to buy the new fancey, expensive shit and most of the time it was a disappointment.

I’m Vietnamese. So I’m consistently cheap. This hurts at $150z.

I’ll be careful with it.

So don’t chuck it off the boat. Noted. View attachment 1501761
We have this same cooler down to the same color that is 8 years old. Haven't had a problem with it and when we use it, which is every boating day, the wife packs the living hell out of it. To the point where she can hardly close it and the straps are earling their money.

I have taken many coolers back to AO for friends that have punctured the inner liner by putting empty cans with sharp edges or bottles that have broken. Always easy to drop off in Corona and good customer service.

This goes with the ceramic spray thread. I loaded the cooler so heavy and tried to muscle it up the bow. Fell and ate shit cause it was so slippery, and cooler fell off the boat. Wish I had it on camera.

We almost sold both trucks to get a new 2500 Silverado a month ago. But, we kept hearing bad stories from our friends with newer trucks. We decided it’s best to just keep what we have.

Titan cooler on Amazon. My AO coolers are collecting dust since I discovered these. A fraction of the cost they never leak their soft on the outside and hard on the inside. Hold ice great! No pain in the ass zipper Velcro works great. All different sizes.
