Schiada RC Jet Question

My dad is 85 years old and thinking about buying a Schiada River Cruiser with a jet. He thinks a jet is a good idea because it is safer and his grandkids can use it. I've never ridden in a river cruiser that has a jet. Only V drives. The boat has been PAINTED. I personally would never want a painted boat. The guy the he is buying it from is going to put in a stock 454 motor.

Is this a decent boat with a jet?

What do you think it's worth?

I don't have any pictures and don't know what year it is.

At 85 I'd encourage him to buy whatever he wants.

I remember from Stan's deal on Powerboat talk they only did 1 jet version of that.

Try to find one with a Berkley pump. Schiada was known for installing mostly Drake pumps. Hard to service and get parts.

Thank you for your advice. It just seems crazy to me to buy a painted boat. When we already have a 26 ft howard cat, a 22 ft Schiada, and a 19' mini Hallett Jet. First world problems I guess. We boat at Lake Havasu so I think a river cruiser really belongs more on the river.

To be honest, I think you'd be fine with a River Cruiser on any body of water. I wouldn't hesitate to take it up to Havasu. As far as a painted boat goes, I don't know if that would be a deal breaker. There are a ton of boats out on the water that are painted. Maybe it isn't "Perfect" considering we live amidst the performance boating capital of the world, but it surely isn't going to "Hurt" having a boat that's been painted. At this point in his life, I would support him with whatever he wants to do and make him happy.

my buddy has a painted schiada jet and has had it for years.there weren’t many of them made but it does just fine as a cruiser. Your dad will enjoy it with kids and stuff it will be a good time for all and quick and easy touch up’s if there are any issues.
