why sell the truck to buy a used one, pay sales tax, just to pocket 8-10k? If you sold your truck at mid 50’s.

You must have better luck buying used vehicles than I do. lol.

Why drive a long bed with dog shit ride and get 10mpg when you won’t be towing anything significant?

Also 8-10k is nothing for you ballers. But to a guy who set to take a massive pay cut in 3years and needs to pay cash for his next house every little bit helps.

If you stretch your years back a few years a lot of decent trucks under 40. You could save 5-10k and keep that as your “warranty”.

Spot on. He’s going to lose any money he’s “pocketing” on the extra depreciation of the half ton vs an 3/4 ton and will probably buy a new truck before or after moving anyway, pissing away whatever he clawed back.

If homie wasn’t constantly buing stuff and selling it for a loss after a couple years he’d have $50k cash or more cash for the house instead playing charades. For 8-10 grand.

If you were serious about saving money, go buy a good $20k truck, move then decide what you want to do then.

I have been happy with my new Tundra although it's old. 55k less than the 2500hd I want.

It doesn't ride much smoother either. I don't even notice the difference. Worse fuel mileage also. But it sits majority of the time.

So the reason I said 23 and up is they have updated transmissions that are much less prone to going out. I have been looking for pre 23 that are cpo. The way if it takes a shit I don’t have to worry. That’s still a decent deal.

Then add 35k to your savings (and watch it grow, Not deprecate)...

Buy a 5k beater car to drive around in...

And rent a truck from Home Depot for 25 bucks a day when you need one.

Happy saving! 👍🏼

You sold everything? Besides the want. Do you need a truck currently?

Put all the money on the new house. Then finance a new truck when needed.

This for sure. I have a 2017 Silverado 1500 LTZ only 49k miles. Might be listing soon. Only selling because I would be picking up a family members 2500. No issues, and anal with maintenance.

This is CL’s jam, but I’m interested in this if he’s not. I need to retire my 2016 suburban.

Didn’t you just buy a “commuter” car?

I drive a f-350 long bed crew daily. Guess I’m used to it.

If it’s about saving money, then don’t buy anything and pocket cash, it’s only for 3 yrs.

I’ve never had luck buying used cars, when I did things always went wrong, that cost $$$ to fix. You at least knew the history of the truck and that is a peace of mind for me. Only a transmission away from breaking even.

Most used vehicles are at a dealer because someone dumped their problems. Not all, but most.

Dealerships?

Most of them are lease returns. You can tell by the age. They are usually three years old with low milage.

These days, most are certified pre-owned.

Most dealership used car managers do not want to deal with headaches! So they will take anything sketchy straight to the auction.

Those cars you'll find at CarMax. Ugh.

Commuter car was to drive until my daughter starts driving in September.

Currently deciding if I’m gonna hold my ground on this offer or give in.

Have at it I’m waiting for a phone call from a dealer in Idaho on a bad ass F150 that is way under priced. Trying to figure out why it’s to good to be true.

You will find out why when you want to sell that truck in 2 years and it’s worth $25k and your F250 would have been worth $35k.

There goes the cash you thought you had.

If you are serious about saving money for a move, you wouldn’t be shopping 18 month old trucks for $40k.

Good luck with your search. The ballers here are ballers for a reason.

Good find

Looks longer than a standard bed. Crazy how many no beds 5.5' they produce compared to standard. I searched thousands of 1500s last go round and not 1 standard bed truck I liked. Ended up with the 2500 and 7' bed which was perfect.

It’s a 6.5 bed. Going to Idaho to pick it up

Pretty sure it’s a 6’6”. But compared to a 4.5’ or whatever most 1/2 tons have it’s a real bed lol
Aint that the truth. Part of the reason I still have my 2014 Sierra. Loaded, 6.2L, 75k miles. I have an extended cab which is all I need. I've owned the truck for 6 years and can count on one hand the number of times I've had someone in the back seat. All the newer trucks only come in crew cab in the higher trim levels.

6.5 bed with tow package is what my last 150 was. Level it with 35s and it looks completely different.
Good find.

I will eventually do a 1.5” level to avoid upper ball joint issues and probably go with a 34” AT. I just missed snagging a Bilstien shock package front and back for $200 yesterday
