Just bought one 10 days ago for 499. Going to check if HD will give me the difference.

I am thinking of getting a second one for the hangar in LHC. This makes it a better play.
I agree. I literally want to keep one everywhere I go, be it desert or river.

Ok school me on this. I don't have internet at my house, only on my phone. If I want to use my laptop I Hotspot off my phone but super slow. Internet sucks here is why I don't have it. Every company we have had out says no. Or it will work after the leafs fall. Is this a way to get decent internet? Is there a monthly? I don't know shit about them!

Yes to all of your above questions. Monthly is $50 for 10GB a month. Or unlimited is $120 I believe.

Unreal speed. You want to be able to see kinda north. We set it up at the track, which is very nice because racetracks tend to have garbage cell service..

We run several streams, plus lap timers, plus everyone's phones on it. It just eats it up..

I did that for numerous years as I traveled around in the 5th wheel. My security cameras would not be accessible unless my phone was there. Added the Starlink for the new place and it is amazing on speed and availability. I pay the 120. a month and have unlimited streaming, etc. Awesome product......oh.....ya, you don't want leaves covering it up. Just mount it somewhere you get a good look to the sky and you are good.

Ive had one on my sprinter van attached to the inside of the rear skylight for several months now. Works awesome! I take it everywhere.
You had this installed inside under the skylight with no issues? That is a great idea. I don't think most people would think about doing that due to it probably blocking the transmission. That would def be the way to go if it works for others like you. That way it can stay mounted and not have to be put outside every time you need it.

I've been considering starlink at my house. I have cox broadband. Fitting name for that company. We exceed our limit 4-5 times a year with a $50 extra charge per month. My speeds are nowhere near what I pay for. My router arris surfboard is rated to 1Gig. I pay for 1gig speeds and get nowhere near it. I think cox suckers turns it down because I don't rent their shit router.

Also cox seems to me limiting my access to iptv box. that pisses me off.

What do ya'll think about starling at home?

Yes....get the 120. per month home. You will be very happy. You can stream everything via apps on your TV....some you pay for some you don't. I use one of the magic boxes for TV, PPV, sports, movies, etc

What about when clouds roll in, or during storms? Or the SoCal May Gray and June Gloom - does it break the satellite signal?

I just ordered the standard for my RV, extra $50 but seems like it gets a little better speeds. Really liked the price of the mini but after reading reviews sounded like the standard gen3 would perform better for off grid camping. But I'm still a little fuzzy on the details

So where’s the best place to purchase the home kit? if I go to Starlink it’s charging me a 200 or $250 market fee on top of the equipment.

$649

Download the Starlink app to your phone. Take the phone outside and use the app to check for signal blockage and strength where you want to install the antenna. We are surrounded by trees and couldn’t get a sufficient signal.

I have a feeling that will be my issue. And im not willing to cut trees to get a signal.

Yeah, for whatever reason I think my area is excluded. Market demand, etc. I think.
I just looked at Home Depot in Phoenix, and its showing 349 for the home kit

Awesome thanks for the heads up.

I have to mount this on stucco wall. Any recommendations on a mount?

HD has one on their site for $65. Does this work well?

I don't have mine yet, supposed to get it this weekend, so not sure on the mount setup.

You mention when the leaves fall. You will need a sight line to the sky and. Think it needs to be something like a funnel shaped opening and not just a narrow tube of sight through a heavily wooded area for the antenna to work. Storms don’t really affect them, foot or two of snow might, and being completely under trees definitely will.

Talk to me about other components, and see attached drawing.

You by the dish, needs a hardwire ran into house to a router? Router supplied with dish? How far and how good of a signal does said router send signal? Can you put a "booster" somewhere else to get better signal in the ADU or Office? Currently, I cannot do a TEAMS call from my office, as the signal isn't strong enough, and we run some booster deal to handle the ADU...

Do you have Quantum available? I pay $80 for a gig.

Also, Google Fiber will be expanding to Gilbert soon from what I’ve heard. $70 for a gig.

Yes the router is supplied with the dish. It had one open ethernet port that we plugged into our network switch. Out of our network switch we have 3 of these access points plugged in, two in the house and one in my back shop.

We get great sigal now anywhere on our 1 acre lot. And yes a buddy of mine came and made it all work as I hate anything with electronics.

We have been running our home off Starlink since last August. Never had an outage during the day. But it apppears it will sometimes be down in the middle of the night for 5 mintues or so at a time probably for updates I think. I get a notification from other systems that they were down for a few mintues when I wake up probably once a month or so.

I had fiber at my old house in Mesa and loved it, when I moved to gilbert last year switched to Verizon. Been meh on it, but it's cheap and similar stability issues as cox and other coax based internet providers.

No, not at all that we have experienced. Our Direct TV did.

Just picked mine up and setup. Took all of 3 mins to setup and connect.

Pro Tip: You have to signup for the $50 Roam plan. After, you can immediately change it to next month the $10 a month 10gb plan! Thats all I am going to need it for. Mainly text and email. Ill leave it always on at that price. So freaking cool.

I ordered the Res kit from HD with the wall mount & pipe mount.

Hoping to use the pipe mount on a vent pipe. We will see if it works out.

I would want to buy one for our house near LA and for one at the river. It looks like starlink is telling me the following:

House in LA would be $349 for standard starlink and residential at $120 a month.

Parker house would be free starlink if I sign up for 12 months and $80 a month for residential lite.

Does this sound right or am I missing some fees etc?
