Told me to make an offer

58 is a great year. It looks like an older build but a quality build. Depending on condition it is worth every penny of 12K and I could see the right buyer in the high 20s. If she wants to move it offer her 10K and flip it to me for 12K.

Looks nice. Remove the vato visor. Lower it a bit more and cruise it. Prices are absolutely stupid on everything right now. Any idea what she wants for it?

I’d offer her $8k. She asked you, you didn't ask her if it was for sale. Since you were not the initiator, you should have no shame in low balling her. If she wants to unload it that easy, it should be a killer deal for you. As long as it runs drives and stops, you should be able to easily make 100%, maybe even 200%. If you like the truck, you have an awesome ride for a smoking deal!

Not a fan of the 58 front end. It’s not nearly as popular as the 55-57.
My dad and brother restored a 57. Awesome trucks.

Sweet truck …. Reminds me of my Grandpas … 100% original 1st owner Apache …. When he passed I attempted to throw my hat in the ring to keep it in the family …. But since his nephews lived in AZ & I was in CA that got shot down … one of those losers got it & sure enough sold it for a bag of weed or bindle of meth….. scumbags.

Looks to be a nice 90’s build. Modded 50’s trucks are not the hottest thing right now but still have value. I would say $25k is the high and about $20k on the low. I would not pay more than $15k if you are going to flip it.

Good looking truck. I called my Dad to see if he had any memories of the '58 Apache he bought new from Ed Black Chevrolet in Albuquerque. He used it as his personal vehicle for a couple of years, then put it into service as a company vehicle. By the end of the 60s, there were about fifteen work pickups in use for the business, and the Apache was looking a little forlorn.

It had a 235 CI six cylinder engine, and a three speed column shift transmission. He still owned it in 1969, by then just one of the yard trucks. My grandmother had started letting me drive the pickups around the desert when I was twelve, so I spent some time behind the wheel.

It eventually aged out and was sold for a few hundred dollars.

It's clean but not orig. Mid teens would ve a fair price if it runs and drives. Orig resto would fetch mid to high twenties.

I'd say anything below 18- 20k you'd be ripping her off. Probably sell for mid to high 20's around Havasu, maybe even low 30's if the suspension is top notch. Like has been said, 58 isn't as popular as 55-57 but still a very nice truck.

Is that a Camaro front clip? Does it drive and stop hands off. Do you have an on going relationship with her. Would you flip it?
You probably won’t get hurt around 12. Not a real desirable vehicle. Loose the wheel tire combo and stance would bring it up considerably.

Good looking truck. Never have liked the camaro clip in those. Most don't get it right and they don't drive all that well. Like has been said, offer her 10k and see what she says. Someone would pay 25k for it. Lower it and update the wheels and it would look much better.

I agree with the 10k. That would be a fun truck to own. I would just keep it though.

Be fair and offer in the high teens IMO.
It's the big rear window too. Less of these than the small window

My brother restored a 57. Miss that truck

If you got that truck for 15k it would be a steal.

Some clean up/ditch the visor and some new steelie wheels and that truck sells for 30k + no problem in todays market.

Pile of crap trucks are selling for 15k

I dont get the ripping her off comments. The lady appears to want an easy sale. If she wanted top dollar or fair market value, she would do the work to put it on the market, or have a friend with her best interests in mind fo so. OP wasnt looking for a truck, so in my mind, it needs to be a smoking deal, not just a good deal, to jump into someone elses problem. Hes buying someone elses problem.

Leonard would agree on the above advice. Nice Truck, so if ya got it, lol, 10, 12K to 15K a resonable high limt.
I liked the Chevy trucks coil spring FE. Double take It looks so stock in there. AC. Vey nice truck. Good luck!
Glad it didn't sit outside in Texas.

FIL Leonard of Precision Engine Escondido, and Precision Marine Redding fame, :) had a '58 3100 LB stepside,"Old Green," 283 with the 4sp granny auto, like the GMC V6 trucks of the era. I Beam leaf spring front axle stock.

I agree...

I would offer 10k and not feel bad about it as it wasn't something you want or instigated. Go from there on pricing if you are in the ball park.

I would buy it for 20k or less quick.

Proper paint job will be near $10K to get it out of the 80's.
You drive it ? Hows it run?
Who did the work?
You might be buying someones abortion.....
Be very careful.
Go around the body with a magnet......
Are her grown kids involved? Walk away, thats always trouble.....

As is? No questions asked.... $7500.00

I don't get them either, but if he bought it for $10K and sold it for $25K some people here would say he ripped off the lady he bought it from, and the guy he sold it to as well.

It's interesting...
There's a shit ton of early(40-50's)chevy trucks sitting around up in Northern New Mexico. With the climate they're pretty much rustfree.
The big cool thing now in Santa fe is driving unrestored original patina "rat trucks"around the plaza&town.

My post wasn't directed at you or at anyone for that matter, it was just a figure of speech. If I let the seller know that the vehicle would more than likely bring 15k -20k minimum with a little effort and she was okay with 8k to get it out of her hair, I say go for it, but I couldn't offer one third without full disclosure. This discussion might be moot because it might be a POS 😁 but I'd guess it's an older, quality build.

Nice truck! I think Id lower it some more with the wheels that are there and drive it. Big plus for me is that it has AC 👍👍

Offer 10-15k if it runs and drives great and you feel it is worth it....Get rid of the visor, rims and tires, Keep it and have some fun with it, then when you get tired of it sell it and make some $$ nothing wrong with that. ANYONE that tells you that you got a steel say YUP I SURE DID and screw anyone that tells you that you ripped anyone off by buying low and selling high especially since she said make an offer and if she accepts your offer...

You really need to do the politically correct thing and post her name and number here so everybody can have an equal opportunity to bid on it, that way everybody gets a participation trophy. We really need the middle finger emoji back on here

I like it. If offered to me (and it ran with a clean title) I’d go $13,500 cash.

Good luck.

Offer her 10K if she turns it down then she has a price in mind that she wants out of it. Ask her then what she feels its worth then negotiate

Take it for a drive. If it drives nice, it's an easy 15-20k all day long IMO. I would not offer below 12k to start a bid, I'm thinking someone spent 50k+ to get it into that shape in the 80's. If she knows that, and you insult her, then it would be a loss IMO.

Cleaned up with nicer/modern wheels on it, as long as the mechanicals are ok and it drives nice, it's worth 30k+ in today dollars. More if it strikes a cord in someone who likes the 80'd builds.

I have a 15 year old son and the more I see this 58 the more I think a classic truck would be a good first car and likely cheaper than a good modern used truck too. Good luck copterzach.

Those "patina" vehicles have jumped the shark. The absolute worst are the fake jobs done with a range of brown shades and cheesecloth, and in close second are rusted vehicles that have been sprayed with satin gloss clearcoat to "preserve" the look. Ugh.

As for rat rods, if I never see another one again, it'll be to soon. The vehicles with a Cummins 4BT belching smoke are the absolute worst.

Get off my lawn.

Except for the drum brakes, lack of airbags, non-power steering, a rigid frame that will transfer impact forces to occupants, and lap belts instead of inertia reel three point belts.

I think we all transfer our youth's desire for a cool vehicle to our kids, but they just aren't a good idea.

I'm not trying to be obtuse, but there are many things to be considered when buying a vehicle for a young male child.
