RDP'ers - I'm looking at purchasing a 2015 Tahoe LTZ/Premium. I've read a lot of negative press about them. Any one out there have/had one that can give me some insight?

How many miles? They are nice. We had a 2016 Tahoe and now a 2018 yukon.

The interior rattles like crazy in both ones we made owned.

The pop up audio screen will short out if you use it.

Reliable vehicles. Don't wait to change the oil. Do it every 5k miles

When I press the brakes or use the turn signal, the interior lights blink. Happened around 45K miles. Fuel pump in a lousy position, has been replaced twice. Needed new front end suspension, AC will have problems. The good (knock on wood) engine and tranny have had zero issues. Purchased new and have 175k miles on 2015 Tahoe. Wanted to cut my losses and buy a low mileage 14 but was turned down as she liked the new body style... 🙃

Good overall, easy to work, parts are usually available if needed.

I have the same problem as you did...Wife likes the newer body style better! What you described as issues, is what I've read about also. Would you buy it again, or wait a little and buy a '16?

I heard the '16 is much better than a '15...less problems

The biggest problem is a lot of people have issues with the cylinder deactivation system . Also , after 100k miles or so , depending on how they’ve been serviced , they burn oil . All other issues are GM’s typical lack of quality control and super cheap components .

bought a new 2012 LT Tahoe. It was the worse driving car I've had, no mech issues (other than the interior being noise after the first year) but the wife liked it (it was her's). But the 8 cylinder to 4 cylinder sucked and the car was never in the right gear... When i drove it i kept it out of OD, if not the car would never stop shifting....

Have a 2015 Yukon Denali. So far have replace both rear lamp assemblies, AC Coil, Radiator, brakes and shocks. 118k miles
Transmission is funky sometimes. Tows great, however! We are into about 12k in repairs/ replacements. Shitty OEM stuff GM won’t stand behind.

We have a 2018 Suburban and a 2015 Silverado.

I don’t think they offered the 6.2L, so no 8-speed tranny issues to worry about.

There’s a known fault with the AC condenser, they crack and it’s a grand to fix…IIRC the shitty part hasn’t been redesigned.

Good vehicles otherwise IMHO

2015 Tahoe, nothing major so far, impacted by known A/C issues(^^^ not condensor but lines leaked), had a brake caliper failure, air shock leaked, bad coil, biggest pet peave is no tie downs in the cargo area... Oh yeah, sometimes the screen goes blank when I connect my phone (Android) using USB inputs, so now I charge using a cig lighter nugget...

I'd buy a low mileage 14 or get a 16 or newer.. But to be fair, the engine and transmission have been good to this point...

We have a 2016 Denali Yukon 6.2L

So far have replace both rear lamp assemblies, AC Compressor, and breaks. 65k miles
Transmission has a "hard shift". That's what they call it. I finally got them to change the trans fluid with better stuff and they changed the trans module. Since then its been great. Tows great.

The 2015 Tahoe was the first edition of that era's "new" body style, I heard about all kinds of issues, as described above. Another was the tendency for the roof to "shudder" at highway speeds. I had a 2016 LT for 4 years never had any kind of issues. Might be best to dump the '15 and keep searching for a 2016 or later.

We just bought a 2015 Yukon XL, it looks like everyone here has pointed out most of the issues.

AC goes out around 70k miles
Tail lights on Yukon go out around 70k miles
Rear TV screens quit working (cheap fix)
Some have a weird air buffering issue at highway speeds, I believe GM has a fix but doesn’t mean all cars were updated.
AFM might cause some issues in the top end of the motor, had mine turned off when I tuned it.

15-20s are the same for the most part, nothing mechanical was changed on the 5.3s with the 6 speed to my knowledge. Early 15s don’t have a power lift tailgate and a couple other comforts. 2016+ have apple car play. 2017+ the A/C seats were replaced by vented seats. I might be missing some things but if you have any other questions ask away and I might be able to help!

Love how the denali looks.... but I want to black out the rest of the trim. To me the chrome around the windows looks out of place because the rear windows don't have it. Drives me nuts.

our AC has a wierd growling/ whine noise at low rpm. Tahoe had it too. And another one I test drove had it. Some fix I read on interweb said put sound puddy around AC lines at firewall and it fixes it. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Have 2015 Yukon. Limited issues (AC - strange noise, related to filters and something getting knocked out of place, rear entertainment system went out). Extended warranty ends in July 22 and will determine what to do then. I have been very happy with the car. Was a huge improvement to my 2012 Escalade = AC would stop working in Havasu (worked In San Diego), all-wheel drive would go out, long list of issues. Best thing I did was trade that in on the Yukon.

@Big B Hova - have the same issue with the chrome. I believe @Riverbound has a shop that blacked out all the chrome on his. On my list to update, but limiting the auto updates currently.

did you black out the rear logo as well?
Yes, I wrapped the chrome above the license plate and then used the matching emblem that came with my grill emblem. I don’t have a good pic of it though.

I bought them off eBay but they must have been taken down, they aren’t even showing in my purchase history. I had to go through my bank statements to make sure I wasn’t crazy.

Just bought a 22 Suburban. Going back to GM from Toyota, I sure hope we don't have some of the problems mentioned in this thread. The two Toyota's we have had have been 100% reliable.

I’ve done a few cars through wet works in Costa Mesa.

You spent $8k to replace the tranny on a common vehicle with 70k miles?
How is that even possible?

What’s the going rate for transmission replacement for this vehicle? One with a warranty.

You probably don’t want to hear this…but the upcoming all-new Sequoia is badass.

Good to hear actually. When I looked at them (the 21's) I was less than impressed, but that's how it usually goes with Toyota. You get an extremely reliable vehicle, but you also usually get one that is behind the curve when it come to the latest tech. If this new Suburban gives us problems though, we will be buying a Sequoia.

Thanks for sharing...and sorry for your losses! I'm very hesitant. I owned a 07 Denali, and had nothing but trouble with it. Wife just loves the look/interior room. When i bought the 07, i didn't do my due diligence, and reach out to RDP. Shame on me!

Yea I was referring to a replacement…at 70k miles, doesn’t make sense to put a brand new tranny in it, put a rebuilt one in it instead.
