My 1989 CR500 was a blast. Never raced it, but was the ultimate desert bike. Put a one off Motoplat ignition in it, and it was by far the fastest bike I’ve ever ridden. That includes an assortment of 450 four strokes. Go Big Red!

I was racing a CR500 and a KX250 in the early 90's. The CR put me in the hospital with an ambulance ride from Carlsbad Raceway. It would get head shake bad at speed. I took it to Star West once and realized it was too much of a handful on a supercross style track. It made the 250 seem like a piece of cake to toss around.

Both of those articles are fake. I picked up a 500 a month ago for garage art. it’s fast as hell but compared to my 2019 Husky 300 it handles like shit. I’m faster on the 300.

Have a 2001 cr500 its fast for sure mostly ride it in the dunes though,Did one ride from chiriaco summit to aha quin north of blythe one year was a blast and did pretty good on fuel.
