If you want to learn what a bunch of idiots live in a 5 mile radius of you, join nextdoor. Holy shit. I signed up because every once in a while someone will have some inside info on building or new restaurants coming or happenings etc. but Jesus, you have to sift through some mind boggling stupid shit.

For example:

Someone actually posted where she should take a butterfly for help with a broken wing.

What to do with a dead seal on the beach

People always asking for help to move

Some guy today complained about a vagrant living on his car in front of his house and he gets blasted by a bunch of idiots telling him to have compassion and be great full for what he has.

Buddy of mine trolls them and it’s freakin CLASSIC!!!

Ya. A couple of our communities are always taking pot shots at each other...funny.

I went on asking for a referral of an english speaking house cleaner and this guy jumped in and told me to learn Spanish and all this other shit. I dropped a few good bombs back on him...lol. Douchebag

There was some good info on someone coming thru our community the last few nights about 1-4am and going theu cars, etc. one lady may have ID the guy and his vehicle so it isnt all bad.

One thing we have learned thru the years on RDP and other boating sites is how to deal with the keyboard warriors ;)

The guy that was complaining about a vagrant living in his car in front of his million dollar home got his ass chewed by a bunch of bleeding hearts about being heartless and not compassionate. Couple beers on board I jump on and this was my reply:

“I don’t know why everyone has to get all upset at each other. Seems there’s an extremely logical answer to this. Original poster doesn’t like having vagrants living in their car in front of his house. Seems there’s PLENTY of people that wouldn’t mind with big hearts and lots of compassion to go around. Be a good neighbor, go grab this vagrant and tell them they can park on front of your home, or better yet, in your driveway. Win / win. Everyone’s happy! Vagrant moves away from original posters home and someone gets to walk the walk not just talk the talk. Seems pretty simple to me. I’m sure if the original poster would’ve known there were so many people around that would love having a vagrant living in front of their home in a car with trash all over the place, he would’ve just simply reached out to get someone’s address and then helped the vagrant make his or her way over to your home.”

I couldn’t help it.

There’s a lot of that and I like that stuff. Good quasi neighborhood watch stuff which is what the site was intended to do.

I personally loved your response and hope your neighbors/nexdoor group at least read it. We are part of the nexdoor group here in Ahwatukee/Phoenix. Mostly lost cats and theft, as it should be!

I am a fan of all your posts by the way.

Cheers,

Bo

That was the intent. My wife had me sign up and I ignore it 90% of the time. Most of the users have pretty much facebooked the app.

First off great reply to the homeless lovers. I can't stand the "They should do something " crowd when they become the nimby crowd.
F next door. I join when it first hit our area. Then I started all the ass hats anouncing the the world how they are ready to handle an intruder or car thief. Keep in mind they use their real names and addresses. Then there were what might be viewed as threats by some. Some how I was able to register with a slightly different name. I lasted about 2 years until I pissed off some assclown in another local neighbor group. I guess he question my name to next door. They contacted me asking to provide my real name. Of course I didn't. I did point out all the bullsh.t they allow. I still read it occasionally on my wifes' account, but I won't join again.

I’m on my 3rd community on Nextdoor (due to moves from SFV to the OC to PHX) and the moderators in this one feel like they’ve got to approve every post (they’re delete happy).

It sucks so bad I typically just see what’s going on

I 90% ignore the shit on there. But some vagrant tweeker posted up a mile down the road and some guy complained and I have to listen to all these idiots talk about how he lacks compassion. WTF? People are clueless, living in their bubbles.

I’m over it. I’m sure it pisses a bunch of people off. One guys like “we don’t have the luxury of helping everyone personally”. I said, you have a house right? Go grab this person and park em in front. Another said “what’s your address we’ll bring em over”. I responded “nah, I don’t want vagrants posted up in front of my pad. I’m not the one jumping some guys shit because he doesn’t want to look out his window and see a vagrant with their shit all over the place. You’re so compassionate, go grab this person and help em out....no? I thought not.”

So I got some random text from my river neighbor about this website. I never click on anything random so I just ignored it. Does this site automatically send a text (spam) to everyone in your contacts like some of those texting apps?

This what was sent to me.

It's a total shit show. It's amazing just how clueless so many folks are about the most simple things. How some get up in the morning and get dressed and find their way to work, I do not know.....

Humor and sarcasm fly over so many of their heads it's ridiculous. And the same questions about so many common sense things cracks me up.

Loose dogs are a big topic. They take pics and bitch about a dog in the street, while their cats roam free and get into everyone's flower beds and garages. I got yelled at by a lady who was all "woe is me" when her cat didn't come home after she let it out at night. She had posted a couple weeks earlier how it was so "neat" to be close to nature 'cause she could hear the coyotes in the neighboring woods howling at night. When I mentioned those "neat" wild 'yotes loved to eat cats as much as Alf, she went apeshit on how rude I was......Oh it got pretty crazy for a couple days and the mods were slapping hands and scolding those of us that tried to explain a lil' nature.:D

Like any good forum, it depends on the moderator. I belong to the Nextdoor area here. Sold a bunch of stuff and found really good referrals. Any BS and politics gets shut down quick.

I did get in an argument over RoundUp a few weeks ago, but that is about the extent of the drama...

I feel bad for the cats. Their owners let them get out ("Fluffy snuck out") and post asking if anyone's seen their adorable pussycat.

Yes, Wiley Coyote last saw Fluffy - he and his friends enjoyed her as last night's meal.

You let your small animal out and they're coyote meal. Don't let your cat out! And cats, here's a message to you: Don't have a stupid owner

Misery loves company. I tend to pay no attention to negative complainers that do zero to help themselves, all they really want is sympathy. "Oh you poor thing, that's terrible"

Sounds like the community page for Havasu. We get some good info about what is going on in the town, but there are a lot of fucking morons out there.

We have a dude that always asks for referrals for free of near free items and services. When it doesn't go as he wanted, he is back on complaining how he got boned.
One of his last requests was for a mobile me mechanic that could diag a check engine light and change a clutch in a '99 Audi.
Priceless!

Ya you better be careful what you post on those forums if you want to live in that neighborhood for any length of time, not a forum to complain on
