Well I wondered how long it would last...

I have a new z71 silverado that I did a 5/5 drop kit on. Inez hot rods upper/lower arm with belltech spindles. I knew I was pushing the limits of my cv length and Monday she decided enough was enough. I checked my angles and I'm only at 29* so I'm good there. I can run the trailboss axles that are longer, but those are backordered. At this point it looks like custom may be the way to go.

Overall damage wasn't bad, lost a bearing, tore the boot and chipped the cage.

I think Unitrax (sp) in Anaheim could do it. They used to do a bunch of stuff like that. The other thing you could do is run a spacer, like some of the lift kits run. I'm not a big fan, but it may work. The spacer, by geometry, will have a greater angle(same rise, slightly shorter distance) The other thing to check, what are the cv angles at compression and extension. That's where stuff snaps.

Years ago (1993) I did this on a Nissan hardbody. Pop the joints off the shaft and you have a shaft with splines at each end. You can have a custom length shaft then made up. Measure carefully, I had to do it twice. At the time I lived in Tucson and the people at a local axle shop hooked me up with whoever built the shafts. Too long ago to remember the details but simply pointing out that what you need is a shaft with splines at each end of the correct length and material (back then, most often 4340 but he builder knows best). Maybe this G-Force outfit can do the whole enchilada including measurements so you can buy your axles once.

My angles at compression only just to 40* so I'm good there. Problem is nobody has spacer for these new trucks, previous generation trucks they make spacers for, but the 19/20/21 trucks don't have anything available

Maybe call RCV. I know they make a lot of stuff for the off-road world and most of their stuff has a lifetime warranty or at least it used to.

Looks like a little scrapping going on between the axel and the end of the sway bar? Maybe it's the angle of the picture.

Yeah, that is from when the joint let loose and flopped around. There is plenty of clearance when are the parts are where they should be

The way I’m seeing it, a spacer will essentially shorten the axle thusly increase the angle of the cv. Longer axle will decrease the angle, however how are you going to utilize a longer axle in the current state. Seems only feasible way would be to narrow the diff or widen the stance and neither of those are logical.
