So, my wife and I are going to a concert at the Honda Center in Anaheim. I worked and had my vanpool drop me off at the Norwalk station so I can take the Metrolink down to the Anaheim station where I should arrive at about 5:16 so my wife can pick me up and go to the concert at 7pm.
I get on the train and have 3 stops to go. After the 2nd stop in Fullerton, “Next stop Corona West.”

I got on the wrong train!

So now she has to drive east with about a million other people on a Friday evening. I’m lucky she’s forgiving.

Anybody else a dumbass?

Missed a flight once because my face was buried in my phone and I didn't hear the shuttle driver when he called out my terminal, he looked at me with that "Are You a Dumbass" look.

Yeah wrong train. There’s 3 lines that have common stops. This train was about 2 minutes early than the one I was supposed to be on. I couldn’t really hear the announcement.

lol, I wasn't on it today. Different conductors make different announcements. Because of the Amish at the Fullerton station, sometimes they announce it's not an Amtrak train, and it's not the train to OC.

Sounds like that didn't happen today, because you would have got off at Fullerton.

Tuesday we were stuck for 3.5 hours, the SBDO line hit somebody on the tracks in Riverside, it jammed up the Perris Valley and Riverside lines.

No cannibalism that I'm aware of, though

Kid you not, some of the passengers got into a Dominos tournament, it was pretty fun to watch.

Last summer replaced the battery in my Wrangler, not paying attention, and hooked the terminals up wrong. Fried the new redtop battery which have gone way up in price, along with the alternator. The dumb feeling lingered for a while.

Until last year we rode the Metrolink/Red line/ San Berdo lines a lot.
They do change stops names and it's easy to get confused.

Music Center / LA Civic Center stop was called that for years.
Then they changed it.
The names got gentrified now everyone blows past that stop.
It's not the only one.
Their was a big stink about it, it may have been changed back. Its been over a year now since we rode.

Also: Security is pretty bad on the trains now and it's better to just drive.
When they kick the prisoners out of the jails in the morning the first place they head to are the train stations and board the trains. They now kick out some very dangerous people. Zero cash bail release.
Elections have consequences.

Sometimes your Metrolink ticket is good on Amtrak and the conductors will kick the bad guys off the trains and/or the AMTRAK police will haul them off pretty quick.
"Called quality of life for passengers policy" by the conductor/trainmen.

Years ago, I sat in the bar at a Cask and Clever for about an hour waiting for a friend to show up, finally got pissed and walked to my car only to find I'd been sitting in Marie Callander's, went next door and my buddy said, where the hell you been. booked a morning flight from Boston to Seattle, and was surprised they had two leaving within 30 minutes apart. Booked the later one, and arrived at the airport at 7am for a 7:30 Flight. I get to the gate and they are boarding the first flight, so I sit down. After it leaves they changes the name at the terminal desk to a different location, so I get up and ask has the second flight to Seattle changed gates? They look at me confused, and asked to see my ticket. Turns out the flights were not 30 minutes apart, I was on the 7:30 pm flight. Had no car at the airport, so spent the next 12 hours people watching at Logan.

Bro I was going to tell the same exact story about my dad having to do the same thing but at like 10:30pm when we were younger lol. He made LAX to Ontario in like 30 minutes

Took a red-eye out of Palm Springs, had a layover in PHX. Saw my connecting flight on the board, which was one of the last flights out of PHX that night and headed to the terminal to catch it.

I did not notice that there was another flight from the same airline going to the same destination at roughly the same time and departing from a different terminal. By the time I was denied boarding on the wrong flight, there was no way I could "OJ" it to the other terminal. Slept at PHX that night. Paid the dumbass tax the next morning when I had to buy another ticket...

Almost got in a brawl on the Metrolink once because some dude who just got out of downtown prison was blasting Tupac on the train without earphones. It was during rush hour and surrounded by ladies. I knew the two ladies who were DOD sitting across the aisle who were one of the few people allowed to carry on the train. He had his boys come on the train in El Monte when I got up to let them out of the aisle, he stood at least a foot shorter than me. Everybody just started clowning him.

Can’t stand people who don’t have respect for people and use profanity around kids who don’t need to hear it.

The week covid was about to shut down everything, I had a flight out of LAX (almost a dumbass story as we thought we were flying out of ONT but I caught it the night before). Anyway, I got to the airport early and posted up in a far away section of our gate waiting area all by myself. Two clowns come sit right by me and started in on their sales all hands call. No headphones, and the guy was the leader and a real over the top Type-A dickhead. I finally had enough and decided to unplug my headphones and enjoy a hilarious fart video that someone had just shared with me. Super loud and several times. It got his attention, he looked at me and said, "really?". I shrugged and continued my video watching.

It's bad enough I worry about carrying my "fruit cutter" in a State office. If you call it a fruit cutter, then it's a utensil, and not a weapon.

The trains in the morning are okay, they're full of people going to work. WORK being the operative word. That, and it's too early for the shitbags.

The subway and light rail....no thanks. I used to ride both, but now I take a pimp ass shuttle bus from Union Station to Bunker Hill. Union Station is always a show during the winter months when all the screamers try to escape the cold.

Many downtown LA Businesses have screening at the entrances and don't allow pepper spray in the building.
Riding the Amtrac/coaster to the cruise ships in San Diego the Embarcadero is full of thieves and problems.
You can sit on the adjacent sidewalk cafe' with a drink waiting for your page to text to board and watch the thieves in action.
Really strict screening getting on the ships and really strict what passengers can get on board with.
They even confiscate our mosquito spray.
