Don't know how wide spread it could be but.... I bought a bag of Sunkist "Cara Cara" oranges from Costco yesterday,
peeled one this morning and there was a big chunk of black stuff about the size of a marble in side of the sections.
I threw it away and peeled another one, same thing!
After closer inspection it appears as though they are tiny eggs of some sort
I returned them, they gladly refunded my money and then pulled all of the rest of their stock off the floor.

Could be an isolated deal, but you never know - So let's be careful out there :thumbsup

i had the same thing from a batch that we bought. i don't remember where they were bought from but only one of them had that and it was at the bottom of the orange. i threw it away and tried another, and that was fine. all the rest were ok, but it was pretty nasty to see. i figured that it just that one that was bad.

I looked at the rest of them closely and on more than half of them you
could see a hole in the end where whatever it was had bored their way into them

Being extremely hungover when it happened didn't help matters either :p

Since the Gov't cracked down on Sunkist and their growers, hard to get a good orange anymore.

I've had the same problem with orages from Vons and Henry's

I dont think its only a Costco problem. Most of the oranges are bought from the same wholesale markets

My brother inlaw owns Regatta and sells mostly to Costco, they are pretty picky. They refused a $40k load of imported (Chlie?) cherry's in Texas once because the stems were not green or match the color of the fruit perfectly, has to be one or the other. Off to the dump.
