RIM is fading fast. Crap phones, outdated network, etc. I jumped over to fruit but my wife has a torch and its looking like this phone is going to crap out. Pulling the battery to reset the phone daily at this point.

So I read today on Bloomberg that RIM is going to adopt the android technology and tap off those million apps to try and keep customers and make their network faster.

My wifes torch is complicated as hell compared to my iphone. She likes RIM and this may be a good thing for everything from reliable phones to all the apps. She hates my iphone. She has little to no gayness apparently. :D

Many people are keeping their Blackberrys and also using IPhones and Droids.
Going to be interesting watching RIM's price shake out.

Pulling the battery to reset the phone daily at this point.

There's an app called QuickPull that will schedule a daily hard reset, has worked wonders for my BB Storm 2 :thumbsup

I guess RIM using Android is good news...but I'm so disgruntled with my BB experience over the last 6 years or so, that I'm getting an iPhone as soon as my contract is up. Everything else I have is Apple anyway.

I love my crackberry. No ghayPhone for me.

It's complicated cause it will do everything you want it to do. I need all that functionality. :thumbsup

My curve was just a terrible phone. It was RIM or BB customer service that sent me packing. Call apple with an issue and they really try hard to make you happy. Plus you can talk to a human rather quickly. An American human to boot.

I will look for this app. Thanks for the heads up on this.

Why would someone keep both? They would have to pay the service on both.

I find my iphone 4 to be superior in every way. Many like the Android over the apple. I can only imagine that must be even better to use.

BB attitude plus shitty phones = company death.

When they had the corporate/enterprise market cornered, RIM/BB were fat because they were the only choice. And IMHO they acted that way, everyone's BB sucked ass, but RIM did nothing to improve the product.

But now that iPhone and Android can integrate with most corporate email systems, people like me can't wait to flee. I don't care if they address my longstanding issues, I want nothing to do with BB anymore.

Dig my Blackberry but I really only use it for email so nothing really fancy. I have an iPod touch to surf the web at Starbucks when I need to.

What can the crackberry do that an Android phone can't? Not trying to be a smartass, I'm really interested in the difference.

I'm not Joe but I've had both BB and Droid....Droid is faster, the Browser is way faster, tons more apps, the only I can think of right now is Droid doesn't have Blackberry Messenger.

Google talk and you can also do Yahoo Messenger if you need that sort of thing....there are a couple others in the app market also.

The most important thing for me, and anyone else that uses their phone for a business, is its ability to sync with Outlook. Everything you put in outlook, shows up in by phone callender. syncs contacts and and every field that outlook uses. if you have a ton of things to keep track of, there is no better way to do it.

BBM is a cool app, but not much different than YIM. YIM is catching up fast.

being able to shove an 8gig card in it, that has all my music on it, is a pretty big plus as well. (no stupid iTunes software to deal with) :thumbsdown

even hooks up to my network at home, to sync or play the music i have on my puter! works with any wi-fi hotspot as well.

i can bluetooth stream my music, from my card or from slacker to my truck as well, but i think the android can do all this as well.

the email program RIM uses is beyond compare as well. i have prolly 12 differrnt email accounts all set up on my phone (pop3, gmail, yahoo, hotmail and everything else). and a nice little app that changes the LED color and flash, for every e_mail or sms message i get. i can tell by at a glance at my phone, who is messaging me. ;)

for me it works well. its not a toy, so it may not work for everyone else. :)

Oh and prolly THE most important feature is...

If i loose my phone, i can log on to blackberry protect, and wipe it clean remotely. Everything is backed up there daily, so when i go get a new phone, all my info is restored instantly. And yes, it's a free service blackberry offers. :thumbsup

i have google talk, yim, and every other chat program you can think of. there are TONS of :gayfight apps for the blackberry as well, i jus dont have a use for them!

Mines like a 460 wrapped in a rubber 460. :D It also extra tough like 460. It's also fast, unlike a 460 jet boate (bote is old school).

BTW Joe you supported all that puss chatter so I am not letting up anytime soon. :D

Next up....Bmac. :p

And yes you can wipe the phone no problem. Part of the Find me that is built into a I4.

So the Iphone will work on the Verizon 4G network and sync with all my outlook stuff? Calendar, task list, contact list and obviously email and etc?

I'm pulling the battery once a day on my Curve II and right now the browser is fucked up...again. Keeps telling me every website is not responding. It did this before, and the fix was downloading the service pack or some bullshit,

RIM and The Blackberry are not getting the Android OS, they are simply adding support to run Android Apps, not the entire operating system.

The blackberry Operating system is key to the device, it is the most secure and safe mobile operating system in regards to data breach, encryption, phone falling into the hands of corporate competition, foreign government, Law Enforcement etc. That is what sets them apart from all other phones, it may not have fancy apps but what it is designed to do (email, and communications, mobile documents) it does better and more securely than any other phone.

Also the blackberry's proprietary OS uses an always encrypted connection to tunnel through out to the internet and for all your messaging, meaning that no traffic can be eavesdropped over the air, it's called BIS (blackberry internet service) the data going between the phone and the carriers antennas is all routed through RIM's servers and is encrypted between those points. Other phones browse with open connections on most sites and only go secure for specific things. RIM is always secure.

Bottomline, it will still be RIM's OS it will just begin to support 3rd party apps developed for the android.

I do all of that hour by hour on my AT&T Ip4. I dont know how verizon can alter how you sync the phone with your puter. This is all done through itunes. Works very well and all my appointments cross over and alarms work in either application.

At this point I can't survive bizz wise w/o it.

Based on my previous 3+ years of experience with them I put little faith in this setup. They can adapt all they want and I dont care how awsome their operating system is as they will continue to tank...because they cant make a phone last longer the a year.

I'm on my second BB in about 4 years, i didn't upgrade cause the old phone broke, i upgraded to get an updated model, I'll have to say that the phone is tough as shit, i have a silicone case on it and it gets beat up all day long in my breast pocket while i'm working on whatever. The battery life kicks ass, i don't have a single complaint....

Maybe I just got lucky? Maybe you got unlucky? I dunno, i love my blackberry though, it's a great phone as far as i'm concerned. Oh and i love having a real keyboard too ;) i can't stand typing on a touch screen.

To each his own, this is what makes the market and competition great, everyone can choose the products that fit their needs :thumbsup

Froggystyle told me the iPhone is far superior to the BlackBerry in the area of breast pocket abuse.

IT SEEMS OC is the god of all things Mac these days, so if he says it works, then it does!

Although....

I have a friend in the phone business, and she says the BB is still the best interface for Outlook bar none.

You guys funny, gettin all excited about shit BB has been doin for years.:p:D

Welcome to the 90's ya all! :champagne:
