I am looking at accepting a job right outside Indianapolis, Indiana. I own a 28' Magic Scepter and was wondering if anybody knows the boating options in Indiana. Is this the type of boat you find in Indiana? I would really like to keep it but don't want to be totally out of place! Any advice would be great... To keep it or to sell it... That is the question!

Lake Michigan is like 90 miles from there... That's a lot closer than a lot of peoples' drives. Not sure what the scene is like though.

There are plenty of lakes in Indiana. A few local to indianapolis with some performance boats. We spent many years boating with in 1-2 hours of Indy. We got in to big water now and boat on Lake Erie.

I can't offer much on Indiana, but I was in Ohio this summer and drove about 100 miles along the shores of Lake Erie and there is a ton of boating there, huge marinas and boat yards. Even saw a lot of people on Jet Skis. So I would guess you have plenty of places to boat, its obviously a much shorter season though.

I hear Lake Munroe (or Monroe) outside of bloomington is pretty great - lots of local college gals and plenty of room to open it up or hide.

A lot of boaters in the midwest. Big V bottoms with cabins are extremely popular. Lots of Formula's, Fountains, Baja's, Hustler's......etc. There are cats and deck boats, but they are more few and far between from what I have seen. Lake Monroe is pretty big and just south of Indianapolis.

Everything is closer together out here, so places like LOTO and Table Rock are about as far away as Havasu is to you now (OK, maybe a little farther :D ). Lake Michigan is more like boating on Lake Pacific from what I can tell, but all sorts of cool towns up and down the lakeshore that have marinas.

Do you know what part of Indy you'll be located? I'm from so cal, been in Indy about 13 years now. It's a good place.

The town is Carmel Indiana. I would love to get your perspective on Indiana and any advice on where to look.

Got your pm. Carmel is one of the better suburbs of indianapolis. Good place. Really anywhere on northside Indy is good. Just depends on what you are looking for (house/schools/action & night life/house size-value)
