Saturday Morning I'm picking up some car parts in Camarillo early and my wife wants to come with me so I thought we'd stop by Malibu and grab some breakfast - I don't know squat about any restaurants in Malibu, much less about ones that serve breakfast. I just want a normal breakfast, none of that fancy poached eggs with caviar and salmon stuff, just normal breakfast food overlooking the water.

Any tried and true places out there that have the RDP seal of approval?

Paradise Cove Café is the only thing "on the beach" I can think of that's chill and basic breakfast. All the other stuff is high end lunch and dinner places like Maestros beach club, Geoffreys, Nobu, Moonshadows, etc. Although, Gladstones has a pretty decent lunch depending on what time you'll get there. Patricks Roadhouse is OLD SCHOOL and does breakfast but it's not on the water, it's on the other side and I don't really think the foods all that great frankly.

Oh, and one more thing, take Los Posas Rd across from Camarillo to PCH and skip the traffic of the 101 and the other canyons across. It'll take you right down past Pt Mugu rock, past Neptunes net and just keep on truckin' Great drive, you'll see a lot of bikes, exotics, stuff, etc on a Saturday summer mid morning / afternoon.

I'll tell you what, best breakfast I've ever had in Malibu was at OLLO in the shopping center just south of Malibu Canyon Rd. It was not your typical breakfast, was a bit high end but I had my go too Juevos Rancheros and it was served on crisped flour tortillas and was insanely killer!! It is however not on the water or even in seeing distance from it. But killer food.

Awesome suggestions, they all seem like very high end with froofy breakfast entrees and im sure really great for dinner. Any hole in the wall places near the beach with a basic menu?

Neptune's Net, if you go a little further Channel Islands harbor and Ventura harbor both have restaurants overlooking the harbor.

I used to live in Pacific Palisades (met my wife at Gladstones on a Sunday afternoon). We used to have breakfast at Patricks most weekends - I always got a kick out him having a topless picture of his daughter on the wall behind the cash register!

We lived on PCH about 6 houses south of tuna canyon and about 12 houses north of the old George’s market (now torn down), just north of topana canyon, went to Webster and my sister went to our lady of Malibu. Great memories of growing up there but I’m glad we moved up the coast a bit.

We used to hit up the seafood place accross pch from your house - I forget now if it was before or after Topanga, It was very casual sit on picnic tables kind of place???

And I worked in the valley at the time so I took Topanga every morning to work - I have to believe that drive is hell now. I was doing it in the mid- late 80s

I spend a lot of time in Malibu, I agree. Ollo has a great breakfast. I swear every time I've been in there Laird Hamilton was there and a member of the Red Hot Chili Peppers (but who cares). I love their food, they have a Salmon dish served on a potato hash brown that's incredible. The coffee is great too. If not there i would hit the Old Place on Cornell Road for their Salmon Frittata with goat cheese, it's incredible. I would stay away from Paradise cove for it's touristy vibe and expensive parking.

Paradise Cafe is not fancy dancy. Go there. You will enjoy it.

Grew up in Paradise Cove...the cafe was called the "Sand Castle" back then. Still have family and many friends there.

... when I lived in Malibu ...31276 Ballard Rd ...which would’ve been the late 60s early 70s we kind of lived on tuna helper and canned spinach ...a big night out or a big breakfast was Jack-in-the-Box in the middle of town...wouldn’t trade a minute of it...Ahh the hippie era...

...biggest regret...we didn’t pool it and come up with the $80K to buy the what was then 2 1/2 acres...the house with an indoor pool plus guest house...”Last on the market for $4.5 mil:eek:...

Believe they used to deduct the parking fee at Paradise Cove from your food bill. Don't know if that's still the deal.

One of the guys here at work says that The Country Kitchen is no frills, is across the street from the water, and has the best breakfast burritos.

My actual go to place in Malibu is the Malibu mut. Right off of cross creek. Insane filafals. Not that it’s a big deal but actor sighting every other time I’m there. Buddy that owns the 37 talon with the lizard on the side we took to desert storm this year owns Malibu car wash right behind that area.

Not breakfast, but Malibu Seafoods on the inland side of PCH is good. Was originally on the Malibu Pier. Owner, Wayne Caywood, has been in the area for ever. It's the place that sets above the highway and has outdoor tables and benches. Always good.
