I Have been watching the bunks on our trailer since the middle of last year. We today was the day. I am in need of a bunk guy to swap out the old with the new. Anyone have recommendations? I wanted to Get on the water mid week if any of the guys are available.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks Don. Will give him a call first thing tomorrow morning. Thinking about doing them all. Any reason other than cost not to? Thinking if one bad others might be on the verge of going too.
I’ve repaired broken boards and also swapped them all out. Just depends on what kind of shape they’re in. Did they wear out or did someone come it a bit hot😉

Second for Sean. He will knock them out while you’re on the water. Never even met the guy in person.

I had been watching one of them. It was loose for the last part of the year. Was going to look into some time this year. Today we launched and all was good. When pulling off Ryk just dunked the trailer and the one bunk was floating with only the front bolts holding it on. I just took a dip in the water to be sure it was under the boat in the right spot when pulling on the boat.

By the way, Ryk did the truck both in and out and into the garage. Steph we are ready to you get it dialed in….❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Maybe we try our smaller boat first. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Last bunk boards you’ll buy. Get the stainless through bolting hardware.

Measure it out to match your existing boards and cut with a circular saw to distance. Use a spade bit to start the counter sink hole then switch to a regular drill bit for the final bolt hole. Mount the bunk and install the hardware.

Took me about an hour to do my trailer, only because I’m not tool handy and had no help. A couple guys could knock it out in less time.

Boards hold up great, no wear, and they also help with quagga inspections since they don’t remain wet or be a home for the little hitchhikers.

Called Sean and he noted that he was trying to get out of the business. He said he might be interested and had to call me back. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ Looks like I might be doing it myself which is not an issue just didn’t really want to do it.

I had my bunks redone last summer by Shadow Trailers Right across from Windsor. New boards, carpet, and stainless hardware and I don’t think it was much more expensive than doing it myself. Launched the boat and dropped off the trailer. Enjoyed the day on the water and the trailer was done in the afternoon when we ready to get off the water. They can also hoist it off if you don’t want to launch.

Will make calls to the additional guys posted up contacts. If I find myself doing the work where are you guys picking up the supplies?

None treated standard 2x material?
Type of carpet?
Stove bolts?
Lock nuts?
Washers?
Lock tight?
length of staples?

I assume you just copy what is there length and width
Set the bolt heads below the surface

I actually sprayed contact cement on the top of my board then laid carpet on top so it would stay as I pulled it under to staple and have it not move

I'll have time Friday through Sunday...we can probably make them Thursday night in the garage if that works. I have all the saws, electric staplers etc..so we can prep it beforehand. Honestly at the ramp it shouldn't take us more than an hour or so if I bring the drill with socket adapter.

Zip tie works pretty well in a pinch and not as messy as tape can be.

I tore a carpet bunk on a new trailer on first time launching new boat, Sun Country let me borrow the trailer while my new one was being made. Im sure they would have fixed it but I wanted to give it back already fixed. I called Shadow Trailers and asked them to repair it, they replaced it while I waited and charged me for about an hour of time. They had bunks already premade in different lengths, made it simple. Plus when they were finished it was only a block away for me to return trailer to Sun Country.

They are close to Windsor if that's where you launch.

I had tried to contact Sean, with hectic schedules I had / have lost contact with him for a few years... he didn't get back to me, I hope he is doing well!

I'm doing bunks in Phoenix and I'm able to travel to Parker/Havasu(easier if I've got more than one lined up).

Oh Man! Do you have to take boat to float it or do you have lifts to get it off? I wish I would have known, I just spent a week carpeting mine and its a pain in the ass. I still havent mounted them yet. Im dreading that part!
