Hopefully I’m posting in the right section If I’m not I’ll repost.

Alright I’m looking for opinions or help making up my mind. I got myself my very first Jet Boat! Now I ve had boat and I still have a 20’ maxum open bow I/O but it’s nothing like a jet boat. I came across an old boat been sitting for a while not knowing much about it I brought it home. And my gramma would say “ well, the sun gotta shine on a dogs ass every once in a while “. Meaning I got lucky. I turned out to be a 1973 Rogers Super Cyclone w/ 427.BBC ! The more I find out about it the more I love it. Turn out it’s been parked in a driveway fsince 94! The boat imo is in decent condition . Now my question. Could it be painted over with a clear coat or similar to preserve the paint and pin stripe and allow it to be washed and shine, from the looks of it im told looks like they assed paint in the 80’s with brush on pin stripes. Now I was thinking like the old hot rods they do the patina thing make it look old or preserve the the old. Could this be done to a boat? I would like to get it looking decent maybe just for a while before I attempt a full resto. I was thinking slight overhaul like seals, gaskets maybe rings on motor and Berkeley the same. want to play with it first for a little. What would y’all do with it or what first? im attaching pictures and any advice would be great thank you in advance!
