You are talking about the slide knot. You need a carabiner hook. And not just any carabiner hook works. You have to get one big enough to hook to the slide knot. Pain in the ass.
The Danik hook is a all around better buy. The largest rope I would use for the danik hook is a 7/16" though.
I just bought one of each 1 month ago to compare which hook works best. I recommend the danik hook.
I found that there is a problem with using these hooks on a anchor line. It is a pain in the ass to feed the line all the way through the hook until your line is slacked out. If the hook could clamp on to any disntace of line, it would be better of.
I have 2 of the Danik hooks and there great. I keep 1 for a shore line and 1 on my anchor line. Its easier than trying to take the hook off and switch them back and forth but I think that will be the case with any of them. I really like mine.
we have like 3 of them, always have two on dockin lines. you know for pulling up to foxes or r.r.,, it is jus min. and you r tied up. i have had so many people go what is that thing and wow that was fast and easy..they r so worth it, one time i drooped it in the water at r.r. and gave a kid 5 bucks to dive down and get it..
I've been using Danik hooks for a while now with great success. They work very well but I would like for them to come up with a way to cinch up the line by pulling the excess toward you instead of away from you.. more like a Rope Ratchet, Does that make sence?
