Not sure if this is the right section but I'd like to put remote start on my wifes Duramax. Is it doable? Who makes a kit? All the info please. Thanks;)

It is doable, had one on a 7.3 powerstroke, and it was tied into the glowplug light somehow.

No idea whos kit, or how, but it can be done.

I have had a Command start on my 2001 Duramax since new and never had a single issue.
It can be programmed to auto start a very cold temps and build temp and then shut off and restart if needed. Unit is made in Canada. We don't need that feature in AZ but when snow skiing we shut off the truck with the seat warmers on and then remotely start it in the AM and our seats are nice and warm.
Works nice at the Lake with the A/C too.:D

Sounds exactly what I'm looking for and for the same reasons. Is this an aftermarket kit?

Cool. I'm in Acton about 20 miles North of Valencia/Santa Clarita

I don't have a referral for that area. The most important factor in doing a remote start is a quality install. Component quality is secondary. I'm a fan of Clifford or directed products as they have been around a long time and have a good reputation.

I have a Viper alarm and remote start. The alarm has a module. works great. It has a delay before it starts the engine. Have the same alarm on both my Dodge diesel and my Excursion diesel.

I'll check out the clifford stuff. That is exactly what I was thinking about the install because that is the most important part as it's the wifes ride so I don't want any trouble. Thanks

So I went to a local Viper dealer to check it out. The add on remote start was $400. Not bad I thought, but then the guy gives me the downside of this system communicating with the stock alarm. Of course he recommended a new alarm system where everything is integraded. $600:eek I can pay my son like 25cents a day for along time to start the truck. Any input. Thanks

I had a Viper in one of my old trucks. I swear that thing had a 1/4 mile range on the auto start. In the summer, pulling into the ramp, we would hit the starter and the truck would be down to 80 by the time we walked to it. $600 you spend will LONG be forgotten after your first summer.

Definitely do a complete system the range and quality is far better than tying into the factory keyless. I would also recommend cleaning up the money for the app based systems that you can use your smart phone.
