I'm looking into some sound deadening material to quiet down the inside of my little Cherokee. There's a fair amount of real estate to cover in there, and didnt want to go broke buying dynamat.
Are there alternatives, as in different manufacturers of this kind of material? Any to steer clear of??

Thanks!

I️ have had great results using fat mat... much cheaper you can find it on eBay and Amazon. Silver with a blue face logo on the sheets

For sound like panel ring or road noise? For panel ring a small square of it on the door, floor, roof etc is enough, so it does not get that expensive. There is a butyl/foil material available at home centers, I believe it's for roofing, that many claim is just as good as dynamat extreme. We are a dealer, so I've never seen the need to test that theory. For road noise, the carpet and batting behind it do more for road noise than dynamat.

Road noise. Was looking at adding it under the batting and carpet.

Read some reviews on lizard skin. I've never used it but it's sprayed on and cheaper when doing an entire vehicle. It might be better to attack the problem from under the car with a product like that if carpet and batting are already in there.

Do not put the Lowe's/Home Depot asphalt based stuff in your vehicle unless you want to smell it for months and be nauseous. It's not the same stuff as actual sound deadener.
Top ones seem to be these in no particular order
Second Skin-amazing I must say
CLD tiles and products
Lizard Skin
Dynamat
Hushmat
Boommat
And a bunch of others

Lizard skin is then lightest but works the least from a sound deadening perspective.

It also works best when sprayed on the inside, unless you have the car body stripped down to nothing. It won’t stick well to dirt, oil, or other undercoatings.

Sound Deadener Showdown, the guy has tested lots of stuff over the years and has figured out what works and where you can save a few bucks.

Second Skin has good stuff as well.

I had great results doing a few vehicles with Noico sound deadener. No fuct up smell, good adhesion, decent price. Prep work is your friend.

I have found knukonceptz products to generally be of really poor quality. Really wanted to like their stuff but their RCA cables were beyond trash.

I can't speak about quality of knukoncepts RCA but I have used their power cable and would not hesitate to use it again.

well, ive stumbled upon a few solutons to the noise problems...
1st, replace the rusted off sway bar links, and the sway bar bushings.
2nd was to reweld the broken exhaust hanger to the pipe.

these 2 little items have quieted the cherokee quite a bit.:D
im still looking into different options for a material. The whole thing is getting redone.
I need another project to go full retard on, so this fits the bill nicely.
