Does anybody have any experience with engraving lasers? Not going in to the Stanley cup engraving business...so not really looking for a hobby grade machine but also trying to stay away from a $25k-100k+ industrial/factory type machine. Would like to be in the $5k-10k range but I don't know if that's possible for what we need.

We have a need to mark numbers on a small aluminum engine block for an upcoming project but plan to use the machine to engrave tool numbers on other products we make in our shop.
Brands I should/shouldn't look at and any other info related to them would be appreciated.

You are going to want a fiber laser. The inexpensive CO2 lasers cannot engrave metal. All the Chinese made lasers all work about the same and made with mostly the same components. You really just need to establish what you want it to do and how big you need it to engrave.

Not sure if this would meet your needs, but I have a vision engraver that I use to make license plate frames for our Foundation for Arizona Department of Public Safety.
