My Fire Stick has a message that's been popping up during movies that says I need to remove apps because there isn't enough memory to allow it to function. After deleting a couple of apps it worked fine for awhile and it did it again. This time I restarted it by holding the play/pause and big round button at the same time, it works for awhile then the same thing again. Is there a way to delete some of the Amazon apps that come preloaded that I never use like the kids apps or game app?

Have you cleared your cache?
This is why i always swore by the first gen fire tvs. Firesticks only have so much storage before apps and data fill it to the brim. The first gen fire tv had a micro sd slot where you could add storage if needed.

Ours did the same thing. I think Amazon is sending a code to corrupt the older ones so that you will be forced to buy the "new and improved " fire stick.

Its not code that makes them crash.....its the apps.

Ours kept saying that it was low on storage but when you go into settings we were only using about 1/10th the available storage.

Go to settings and then apps and then “managed installed apps” and remove the apps you are not using.

Is there a way to increase the memory with a flash drive or a memory card?

We had an older Fire box that you could expand the storage with a memory card and it worked fine until recently. That's why I say that I think Amazon is intentionally corrupting the older units via "updates" to force you to buy the newer versions.

Couple of things id like to address here, device storage and expandable memory are two different things....we know this. Are you manually saving or moving apps over to your SD? If not, thats the SD card youre seeing with all of that available storage. I say this, because 99% of the phones and devices ive come across, ive had to manually configure my device so that apps and files associated to it, get saved on the SD. Its not a plug and play situation where it automatically saves on the card.

Yep, we move everything thing to SD card that is not part of the factory installed OS. We have had this unit for years are quite familiar with how to operate it.

You may be able to add storage to it I have a Firestick 4K and added a OTC cable to it with a 256Gig thumb drive. There are several Youtube videos out there that walk you through this.
