$125 for a cord of ugly wood delivered. Best camping wood I've found.
What is the price you pay for firewood?

Our gardener regularly brings us firewood from the trees he cuts in the neighborhood. We're always good for about 2 years worth of California fireplace weather. I just throw him a $20 every time I see him stacking firewood for us.

That's not a cord of wood in the pic.

I'm getting $300-$350 a cord for oak and oak/madrone right now.

He is in the 909. He brings it in a stake bed truck with a bed lift, I think the bed is 5' x' 6' x 4' high. It's a great value.

His name is Martin. I have been using him for the last 6 or 7 years.

How many square feet do you think is in a cord?

I sell 75 cords a year. 4'x4'x8' split and tightly stacked. 128 cubic ft' and I can lose my permits if I sell one short cord. You cannot fit a full cord in a long bed truck unless it's stacked over cab high all the way to the tailgate with side rails on the bed and gate.

What you paid for that pile of wood is fair, don't get me wrong. It's just not a cord.

OK, The stake bed was 6' long, I don't know the exact measurement from side to side is over a dually's outside wheel (it is a flat bed), the wood was stacked within a few inches of the top of the stakes (I'm assuming that would be 4')?
length x width x height, you tell me how many cubic feet that is.. :D

for ugly wood I get (most of it too big for your house fireplace), no. But he does offer smaller cuts. Call him.

I get mine from jobs, trashouts and estimates. Sometimes from the side of the road. LOL It helps to have a pickup truck.

I pick up people's left over rounds, old cut wood, framing lumber, whatever is clean and decent...and free! Once in a while we get paid to take out a tree or clean up damage, and burnable lumber is part of it.

I rent a log splitter every couple of years to bust up the rounds I gather. We have fires in our fireplace all winter long and in the pizza oven once a month in the summer.

I have never paid for wood.

Just ordered a cord, pieces are cut to fit home fire places, he'll leave them bigger for Glamis, Dumont etc etc.

Nice guy, VM is full so either text him or just hang up and he returned my missed call immediately.

Thanks for the hook-up and he confirmed it's actually a touch over a cord.

His half cords were huge! He used deliver a half for $60 back in the day...I always call the day before delivery to confirm,
He was late this morning about 2 hours. Good guy, just real busy this time of the year.

Ya he said he's slammed, so I made it easy on him, told him to choose, he said next Monday, no problem I said.

Full cord is 4' x 4' x 8'

A face cord, which many confuse with a full cord, is 4' x 8' with pieces being 16" long. A face cord is essentially a 1/3 cord.

A cord of any type takes up 128 cubic feet. Actual wood content is around 85 cu ft.

Pulp wood is bought and sold in cords using the 128 cu ft as the base formula. Pulp wood typically being 8' long, with 4' x 4' face.

Next lesson will talk on the advantage of good hard woods like oak for fire wood vs "Gofer" wood.:skull

I use to get mixed hardwoods (eucalytpus, oak, some pine) at a place in Chino hills. He use to advertise on Glamis dunes. It's called the ranch. He would fill my long bed HD for 60 bucks of good split hardwood, or 20 for a load of ugly wood, branches and logs. Think he doubled his price now, but still cheap. He is off the 71 near Prado regional park.

$300 for oak and $350 for oak/madrone mix. I'm a little far from you though. :D If I cut more than I am now I have to file all kinds of permits etc. I can't afford to go bigger or make this a living, but it's nice to add to the yearly income and clear the land for the fir and reword to come back.

About 25 cords a year go to the elderly and disabled vets in the area. I don't make a profit from those and they are pretty much the only people we will stack for. Just happy I can help out a little.

:D That's funny! Been there. I throw all the odd size cuts, forks. half rotten or other stuff I can't split or what would be called ugly wood in a pile off to the side. That's the stuff that goes to the beach and bonfires. Never realized how fortunate that actually is.

I saw you were from Humboldt....I didn't want a delivery. Cool that you help the elderly and vets.

I used to sell firewood when I lived in Chico a long time ago. I had a big flat bed truck, a small International dozer (for taking out stumps), a splitter and some chain saws. Sold mostly almond, walnut, prune, eucalyptus (burns hot if cured but saps up the chimney) and oak....helped farmers clear orchards and ranch land and got the wood free.....really hard work, must be young and strong for that stuff.

I was just wondering what the price was.

Good luck!

Just paid $250 for what is probably 3 cords of eucalyptus. Right place, right time. Most cut to fireplace length with some uglies/all nighters for the desert.

Do you also have a Cobra sticker on your back window?

I think you passed me on Christmas eve as you turned onto Riverside. I saw the RDSUX and Cobra Boats stickers figured it was you.

There's also a dairy out of of Edison(pretty sure that's what street it is), east of Euclid that sells firewood. Not sure how much, just a sign with a phone number.

Did you check the guy under the 5 on San Fernando rd and Balboa. Dump entrance. There is a guy behind Mikes tire, all the way back by the river bed, that sells a wheel barrow for 10 bucks, don't know what it is or what he gets for a cord.
