Anyone know what the cause usually is on these? They’re an older set so they’ve gotten use. They don’t stay stuck down all the time, only intermittently. I just don’t know what usually causes them to not come up. The motors? Or?

Mine did the same thing, the hot lead to the battery was loose.

For me it was the little controller box. Same deal for me, intermittently it would stay down, or sometimes up.
I saw on amazon they make replacement motors, but I wonder if that’s what the problem is

On my truck it was the door controllers, they are controlled by the factory controllers. if the contacts get dirty they act up.

Tri flow ptfe spray on the hinge points 👌🏽 worked for me on an old set a couple trucks ago. Eventually it was the controller

The amp steps on my truck can be temperamental. The 99-07 gm trucks have the door sensor in the latch and if you don’t open the door much, the sensor gets finicky so the steps won’t always extend the first time you open the door.

If you open your door and the light doesn't come on inside then you need to oil that latch, if it still doesn't work then you most likely need a new latch.

Or go down and pull right back up. Pulling the door apart and cleaning the contacts on the door latch solved my issue.
