any tips for dealing with transitions between floor and tile? I bought a reducer molding but it’s too thick. If I trim the floor back the molding won’t be long enough. Was thinking about somehow shaving it down but it’s an awkward shape to rip on a saw, etc.

Depending on lengths, you could run it on a band or table saw with a fence. Just a thought, I'm no carpenter...hopefully one of them will chime in.

Either build yourself a jig to rip it down or take it to someone who can mill it down for you. Is the flooring finished? Looks like nothing under the tile.

tile has been there for like 10 years. Originally had carpet and put in rigid vinyl.

That's what i was thinking. Looks like only about 1/8 to 3/16 of inch to down.

Also if I mill it down to fit there’s a metal track that holds it in place that then won’t fit. I’d have to just glue it down to the floor and tile.

Clamp it down and use an electric planer. Just make sure the blades are sharp. You can rent one from home depot if you dont have one available. This would be the easiest way if for DIY with minimal tools.

A end trim instead of reducer but to late now. Have to use a table saw and customize it.
