That was more than a little disappointing.

The awards were in Vegas, it’s the norm now.
In Vegas Celine’ Dion, Brittany, Olivia NJ all lip sync on stage now.
Half, sometimes all the music is canned too.
Ya walk in the theater and get seated and a cheesy pit band is playing warm up entertainment.
Then when the show starts the band melts away leaving the audience thinking the show is still live music.
These tickets ain’t cheap either.

Actually...if I'm not mistaken, they were in Nashville. Which in my opinion makes it worse...

It was in Nashville. I caught it and was super disappointed too. George Straight would never lip sync a song.

I get the technical considerations of a show like that. Maybe ther do it so someone doesnt go off a bridge and do some Meryl Streep political crap? Ive seen him live. He gets a pass. Not a big fan but does a helluva show.

They got it wrong too.

these "awards" shows are total b.s.
such a disappointment that the entertainer of the year can't sing a friggin song live
I get the technical aspects but come on...either "perform" or stay home....

I caught a bunch of crap at a Garth concert last year when I was convinced a couple of songs were synced....now I know...

Real country....dead years ago....

Yep.
I grew up with my Dad playing Charlie Pride, Hank Williams, etc on his reel to reel daily.
"Country" music today makes my skin crawl. I don't want to hear about how this guy or that guy is good, save it.
Singing about how your old lady left, chewing tobacco and spitting, or how you drink Budweiser at the bar, all in a warbley voice doesn't make it "Country".
The only "Country" award to be given is who is the least obnoxious and talentless poser in the whole bunch of talentless posers.
Throw in the political piling on from these self important urban cowboys and it adds up to something I choose to avoid at all costs.

I realize this is all subjective, but in my opinion I'd rather be forced to listen to cop killer rap...and I fucking HATE rap.
To be fair, all awards shows have deteriorated into outright garbage.

The last decent performance was Green Day doing 21guns at the Grammys, and Stephanie's duet with sir Elton John.

I do enjoy me some Eric Church....agreed that he is still not old school country but he is the real deal from a singer song writer and performer perspective
he has caught some shit from the CMA crowd for calling out the hick hop trends
catch him in a smaller venue...awesome.......

I do not see any legends that will stand the test of time as Waylon, Willie, Strait, Cash, Coe, Hank Jr...

Who will still be around and still making GOOD music 20 years from now. Although his last 2 albums have been kind off odd, I enjoy Kenny Chesney.

Have you heard Chris Stapleton? I'm not a country fan, but I like this guy.
