Dear ASA Member,

With Dunes season once again upon us, a quick review of rules at the Imperial Sand Dunes (AKA Glamis or ISDRA) is worth your time. Citations are costly and time consuming to resolve especially if your vehicle is impounded.

Most important in no particular order:
  • You can get a DUI in the dunes
  • Whips and flags are required.
  • The speed limit is 15 m.p.h. within 50 feet of any campground, campsite, or concentration of people or animals
  • Helmets are required for riders of all vehicles with engines less than 1000cc
  • A burn permit is required to have a camp fire. 5 minutes online and it is free.
  • Firewood with any metal is prohibited. Glass containers are prohibited.
  • Make sure all your vehicles’ registrations are in order – be able to prove you own it.
  • Out of state riders may need a California off road permit. Street legal in AZ is not enough and you’ll need a CA permit sticker which is available at Gecko Ranger Station for $30.
  • A current weekly or yearly pass is required for every primary vehicle
  • Saving spaces and “Ghost Camps” are not allowed; your rig may get towed and impounded.
