Who did you use for Solar?

I contracted with Havasu Solar in Sept to get solar installed. They have gone dark, haven't started the installation, and have terrible communication. Do your research before using them.

I am using Mohave solar and they have been great. Good communication, pricing and quality of work.

If you need contact info please let me know and will put you in touch.

Did you give them any money or sign a contract? If not, no biggie. Try another company, maybe Mojave Solar like previously suggested.

We live in Santa Clarita and love our solar system. Our SCE bills for the last two months have been $10.68 each month. They were $500-600 a month in the summer and $250ish in the winter. For this winter we’re using small electric space heaters to heat the house instead of the whole house heater which is natural gas. Those bills were $400 each month last winter.

I talk with both Randy from Havasu Solar, and Danny/Tommy from Mohave Solar regularly.... Shoot me a DM, and I don't mind to call randy the owner in the morning, or Ill start you a group text message and see if that helps.. If you wish to change companies call Danny at Mohave...I can arrange a direct intro..we talk very frequently..hes someone I hold a lot of respect integrity wise for. Sometimes things just don't work out. (I'm on the distribution/finance side of the industry...)

$2.35-$2.85 with a 400ish watt panel, and enphase Iq8 or Solar Edge inverter system.. is statewide average in AZ.

Longer warranty panels, roof type etc impacts pricing. None of that pricing include financing fees. Those range from 0-42% of the deal…never sign a 20/25 loan with a “low” apr… it’s all loaded in the front end.

Damn when you break it down that way, it is expensive, LOL.
Yes it is

I had a company out 5 years ago and the best deal was $31,000 for 33 panels!
I had a competitor quote me ( he was @ $36K ) and then I showed him the quote and he said go with those guys ….

but your right

it’s expensive

30% federal, you need to look into the utility buy back rate changes that happened in October if its not a full time residence.. Talk to your tax professional before signing anything regarding federal incentives and if you quality.

I can’t see using solar without a battery storage setup.
Does that $1000 a panel include energy storage, or just selling it back to the grid?

This is the way we looked at it too.

Our solar payment is $178.00 a month for 25 years, but that makes our electricity bill go away every month. Like I mentioned earlier, that was $500-600 a month in the summer and $250ish in the winter.

The solar panels and install was $49,000 minus a $15,000 tax credit. I struggled with that cost and that amount of money hanging over my head on my credit report. Now we are getting a $10.68 electricity bill every month and a way lower natural gas bill, I’m glad we went with solar.

We got in under NEM2, but with NEM3 now look at installing a battery so you’re pulling from the battery during peak hours.

We got a l little over $800 credit for the year total on our Edison bill, and last weeks bill we were were down at almost $600 credit. Electric heat & RV refer at night has been using up some credit along with cloudy days. Still get 100% power bank charging no matter what the weather. Just takes more day time.

Shortest day of the year is Dec 22 and the credits will start adding back up.
The bill used to just say what we earned for the month and that got me confused. Now it lists total for the year.

I'm hearing things will get even better.

Completely depends on your NEM agreement, power cost and buyback rate.

All are factors in whether you need a battery or not. And no you aren’t getting storage at that price.

I’ve been wondering how much electricity the space heaters are going to use. We‘ e got three 1500 watters going first thing in the morning heating up the house. I look at the meter with them all going and it’s running forward quickly. Later in the day when the sun is up it’s running backwards. I’m going to try it for a month or two and see what the bill is. The three months of a $400 a month natural gas bill last year pissed me off.

Solar with a battery and EVs in CA are pretty much the only way it comes close to making sense if you choose your EVs wisely.
