There's only two things on this planet that really scare me, tornados and black widows. Being in construction, I've learned to live with the spider thing, and it has not really bothered me too much lately. But I still hate black widows, they can all burn in hell.

Last night my daughter's mom pulled up to my house and I went out to her Jeep to grab a few things. I live right next to the Mojave River, so cockroaches, skunks, bobcats, bugs, and other wildlife are very common.

A dark object ran out from under her car towards my front door, so I instinctively stepped on it thinking it was a small cockroach.

As I looked down at my foot, a shit ton (at least 500) of tiny baby spiders spread out 360 Degrees from the mama spider I just squished. In an effort not to freak mamma out, I kept my mouth shut and played it off. I came back a few minutes later with some heavy-duty pesticide, and the babies were still running around.

Pic is of the aftermath. Anybody else hate spiders?

Yes. Summertime we get a lot of brown widows and a couple of black widows along concrete around the house. I go and spray them because squashing them just freaks me out.
The worst is when you walk out the door and walk through a web and start doing hyperactive Kung fu.

A friend of mine is a physical therapist at a hospital. About 7 years ago he was telling me about 2 patients that came in the same day. 1 patient had been bitten by a rattlesnake and the other had been bitten by a black widow. After a few days he shows up and the and the spider bite patient had died overnight. On another occasion my mom (ER Nurse) admitted 2 patients a couple days apart rattlesnake and black widow bites, the snake bite patient went home a week sooner. If the black widow gets the venom in you you are in trouble.

I've always been more afraid of the brown recluse over the black widow. I might have to rethink that. I have my house sprayed, but about 8 years ago my ex wife and I came home one night, and walking up the driveway by the garage door was a huge wolf or sun spider. Anyhow I stepped on it and freaking hundreds of babies went everywhere. It was the type of shit that makes you want to burn your house down.

Black Widow bites USUALLY aren’t that big a deal. But they can be.
Overall the recluse is far worse.
I got bit by a widow on my hand. It hurt. A lot.
I wacked it at the same time so I don’t think it got a lot of juice into me.

But we had Black Widows all the time at our Anderson property. I wouldn’t even kill them unless they were near the house or shop.
But out in the field or anywhere away from the yard area I left them alone.
Rattlesnakes and recluses are the devil.

Call in an airstrike to level the place.

I can deal with any spider but only black widow's spook me.

One of these Golden Orb Weaver's clamped onto my face when I was stationed in Alabama riding a trail on my quad. I took off my helmet to move a large branch that had partially blocked the trail. I didn't realize as I was hunched over dragging the branch into the woods that I had shimmied under this monster. I stood upright and took half a step before I was wearing a spider mask. Holly shit I bruised my cheek I slapped my face so hard several times and flailed around. They aren't poisonous but I didn't know that at the time. It's funny now.

(Pic is an example I pulled from Google. I didn't have a camera phone in 2003. Somewhere I have a real photo I took with a dollar bill next to one of these guys. The legs extended longer than the dollar)

I got stung by something other night driving my cart. Never saw what it was. Killed a rattler last night. Kids found it 50 ft from where they have spotted several over last few weeks.

Got a Guy under my mobile now leveling it. Said he hates the widows and scorpions as they are hard to spot. Snakes not as bad unless they rattle and hide after.

I’ve been reading about this stuff.
Is it really as good as it claims?
I’ve got it in my cart on Amazon, $45 for 16 oz.

Yes. Our pest guy of 20 years told me about it, thats what they swear by. Ive been using it for years. You can also find it and reviews at domyownpestcontrol.

it was the only thing that would knock down the scorpains in our cabana. Within 2 days you will find dead spiders and scorpions. I mix it at the stronger strength and really spray down the house and garage. I mix it at regular strength and use distilled water ( no water spots) for spraying in the house.

Ive also used a product they sell called fastcap. Both work superb, but I stick with cykick for the most part.

Yeah that’s the site I was reading reviews at.
Gonna buy some.
I assume it’s by order only, can’t find it in any local stores online inventory.

You can only find it at Professional pest supply places or online that I know of.

This is the stuff that I use, I do the perimeter of the house every few months and it works very very well. I believe it's very similar to the pesticide shown above.

NONONONONONONONONO!

I'd be using a fucking flamethrower to back up the napalm following a tactical nuke strike if I found that shit near my house.....

If I can hit it with a bat, that is too fucking big!

Out of everything scary out in nature, and I've hunted/been hunted by some scary shit, big bugs freak me out the most....

I have a 3.5 green head Torpedo. Somehow The needle got broke. Need to find one. Nice Planes. I had read you were into these. Is there a thread you posted?

Not really, put a few pics in the Covid project thread.

Built a full size ringmaster as well as that baby ringmaster.
Starting a Matt Kania full size ringmaster next.

This one is 42” span.

I went to go grab something from next to the shed last night, couldn't see very well and decided to come back with a flashlight. Good thing I did, this little bitch was posted up at about calf height and I would have walked right into it.

That's awesome. I'm not into rc planes, too much $ for me.. but my dad was when he was a kid, and my uncle(his brother) still is, has probably $500k+ in planes that he has built and equipment.

I do have a engine that my dad gave me before he passed from when he was into them. It is a "Super Tiger 46" if that rings a bell? I know nothing about them, except it's a two-stroke(which I love) a super cool looking litte engine!
