Anybody done any shopping recently for used ice machines that has an idea of what kind of $$ they are getting? I haven't seen any listings in a while. Particularly under-counter style machines....

Bought this one, swapping out some parts and it’ll be good. If you are in havasu I’d sell bc I want to go restaurant size. Kenmore elite

Thanks, but I'm not in the market to buy. I have a couple friends that have been talking about one and just had no idea what the going rate was for a commercial used machine these days.

DO NOT BUY Uline
My buddy had me get 2 ice makers to replace the ones in his house
$2000 each. City Maytag in havasu got them and neither one worked out of the box
Uline wanted to have me pay for service call and City maytag gave me a hard time for getting my money back
Craziest thing I ever dealt with

They are pricey. I looked for a year for a used one, some were close to new pricing and others were junk. Not knowing ice machines, I was worried about mold etc on old ones.

So I bough a new Maxice from Sam’s club. Has worked great.

My neighbor had a 450lb/day machine sitting on the side of his house that got direct sun at least 8 hours a day in the summer. Ran flawlessly for years. One of our friends was so impressed, he bought 6 of them for the break rooms in a large climate controlled commercial building. They all died within 18 months.

You looking for cooler ice or for drinking?
Bought a used Hoshizaki last year for a little over $1k. Found it on Craigslist from a local business. Took a couple cleaning cycles to get the crud out, the pre-filters were a little more than i was planning on spending. It’s badass when we have large groups over. Flip it on when we get in and let it run until the last morning. All the ice you’ll need. I run it every month or so to fill up bags for future trips.

Don’t buy any of the Chinese junk sold at HD, or from Costco, just try to get a part of the bridal. but a good used unit expect pay about 1000 a decent one that’s goingwork Havasu you’re at about $2,000 to $2,400 new.
now and then you could snag one on eBay that’s close to you that might’ve had a year or worth worth of use or craigslist sometimes restaurant to buy one and realize it doesn’t have the production what they need more often than not under counter units. When you look at them look at the serial number generally the first number or two and the serial number is the year the machine was manufactured.

A Lot of good brands out there just remember you’re only going get about 60 to 70% of the claim to production every 24 hours in Havasu because of the ambient air and the temperature of the incoming water.

I have a nice medical one with a friend of mine. It’s even outside and been there for almost 4 years now in Las Vegas under my kitchen countertop no issues. It’s a 220 pounds per 24 hour model been flawless so far but if it’s outside it won’t operate when the temperature is below about 45°.
Not that that matters.

Goodbye use one of the most common failure is the water pump. You can often get those new online for about $100 and they’re not difficult to install.

This could be a deal if it works well.

This is the unit I have and 2 friends have. This is too much, new not that much more. Works flawlessly.

A few years ago I was able to come up on an undercounter unit that needed a little work. I got it fixed and up and running great. Then when we moved from Paso to Arizona I left it to a friend of mine up there. Back then I was able to find them from time to time for a couple hundred in older, but usable condition. Now, I really can't seem to find much of anything listed on-line. So that is why I am asking about current pricing.

Good thing is, with work history, a machine needing a little work is no problem. I have worked on, repaired, and maintained hundreds over the years.

Parts are expensive to fix them Doing that right now on a flaked ice machine. Not great for coolers but good for drinks.

A flaker is only good for someone that likes to eat ice or something that needs to cool down fast and doesn't worry about being watered down.

Also, a flaker only lasts about half the lifespan of a cyber until needing a new drum due to the nickel coating flaking off.

I bought a Uline about 5-7 years ago and it has been awesome. It makes orange slice shaped hard frozen ice.

I got the one that freezes vs the ones that are constantly making and melting ice and require a drain. I think it was around $1,400. I got it from Pacific Sales inside of Best Buy, they special ordered it and I got a extended warranty as well. I hooked up a 3M 3US-PF01 filter and it taste better than my RO water.

Are ice vending machines common around LHC? I see them in the southeast and deep south, they area stand alone machine like a drive up ATM. Just curious if they are popular there.

Haven’t seen one. Tx has a lot of them and it’s cheap ice too.

If you want a real ice maker buy a Hoshizaki. You want an air cooled under the counter model

Whatever you do, it must have a "Good, Filtered Water Supply. That is the #1 Killer of Ice Machines. The better the Filter the fewer problems you will have.

Well... based on everybody's input here, I'll offer up this bad boy for a cool $1k.

She's in FANTASTOC condition. 240lbs/day machine working in tip top shape. Just did a thorough maintenance on it and cleaned her up real well. Pictures are of it temporarily connected for testing and servicing.

I bought a Thor. Special order from Best Buy. Have it over a year, works great, no complains. $1700.

It’s tapped into our RO.

The black string is something I rigged up to keep my toddler out of it. Lol
