If you get one I recommend a "water cooled" one. I bought an air cooled one and I live at the river. It takes so long to make ice in the summer it probably cost about $20 a bag. I found mine co Craigs list. Check our EBAY also. Make sure you get free shipping.

Get a real deal commercial one, Manitiwoc (sp?) You can find them on craigslist occasionally from restaurants etc that are liquidating. They are totally servicable and reliable as hell. :thumbsup

Bought this bad boy for $200 installed with bin. I know it's a 300lb commercial unit, Can't remember the make but maybe the pics will help. I did pay a couple hindered in MX but best thing I ever bought for the shop hands down.

Joe,

For your purposes I agree that you should look for a commercial unit.

I have 2 of the undercounter dedicated "Clear Icemakers" at each of the places in Havasu and all I can say is if you go with one of these definitly go with the U-Line (Clear ice only not the standard one) as this thing cranks out the ice like you can't believe!!! It will make and holed 25lbs and if I empty it in the morning when we head out on the boat it is all but full again when I get back.....the thing rocks!!

On the other hand the one at the house in the city is a Kitchen-Aid (mfd by Whirlpool and also private labeled as Kenmore and this thing is not even close to the production of the u-line unit......if I had it to do over again I would have put a u-line unit in here for sure!!!:cool

I'm with Racey on this one for sure. I have two of the under counter units in my house and they make a ton of ice but they are noisy as hell and they use a ton of water and very expensive. You can buy a commercial unit for less money that make ten times the ice. You will not regret it...

They are pricey. I bought a chest freezer for 180 bucks, holds 15 7lb bags at 99cents a piece. Just my 2cents

Heres mine. Makes a shit ball ton of ice. I actually got it free. I've only had it hooked up for maybe three weeks and so far so good until I get the electric bill.

Dang, did you snag that from a casino :)

That's funny "Quick load it up" Actually it was a score from a major SoCal university. We started a job and called to tell them they needed to move it. Their reply was that if facilities left it in there they didn't want it. We told them what it was and the reply was "Guess they don't want it" I just had to rebuild the water sending unit and ended up with 100lbs of ice over night[emoji1]

I just gave a 25 year old 300LB/day Hoshizaki to the next door neighbor with the agreement I get to come get ice as they use more than us. To be honest I'm not sure if buying it might be cheaper than paying for the electricity. But it is damn convenient.
