Gotta be The Cowboys. I love the line that goes something like "let's get moving, we're burning daylight". I used that line just this week when I roused six sleepy kids from their tents at Boy Scout camp. They hated it. :D

I like:

Sands of Iwo Jima. I think that was the first film in which his character dies.

The Quiet Man. Greatest fight scene in any movie EVER!

The Shootist. It was the way he chose to say his goodbyes to Hollywood.

Green Berets:thumbsup

I'm in that movie :D:D...........I was taking AIT at Ft Benning in 1968, they were filming part of the movie there , there's a night time fire fight and our company was in the "action" as part of the scene. The Duke would come into the mess hall an eat with the rest of us, went thru the chow line like everybodyv else did.:thumbsup

Very nice! Met Mr. Wayne in Newport harbor on a boat ride with my Dad. The Duke was on his big old boat the Wildgoose and waved and said hello, chatted for a minute with my Dad. Very gracious man, Mr. Wayne.:thumbsup

I actually have a photo somewhere of his stunt double and I. When I saw him (1988) I was like shocked he looked so much like "The Duke". The photo was at G. Bush Sr. inagranation.

In Harms Way was great and I remember the first
time watching was with my grandma. Love True Grit.
Haven't seen the remake but I'd like to.
That's way cool, Skyskier!

Movies his character died in. Reap The Wild Wind-1942,Fighting SeaBees-1944,Wake Of The Red Witch-1949, Sands of Iwo Jima-1949,The Alamo-1960, The Cowboys-1972, The Shootist-1976. In the Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, his character was dead at the start of the movie and James Stewarts character was there for his furneral. Also in The Sea Chase he ran his ship aground at the end of the movie and his body was never found leading to wonder if he lived or died..

I still have the L.A. Times from the day he died. Donovan Reef with the Duke and Lee Marvin was a great flick.

to see this thread still going... wish I had some pix of Mr. Wayne's old boat from back in the day. Was fun to play in Newport Harbor and people like Mr. Bogart, Mr. Bishop and Mr. Wayne were just other folks with boats tied up there. Good times.:D Miss those days playing and fishing on the dock with Aissa. Hope she is doing well.
