Anyone ever experience this and have a solution to fix it? I did some recon online and it seems it has to do with the cooling system. Pretty annoying and before I called a repair guy I thought I'd hit up the RDP brain trust first for a solution.

Thats what they do right before they explode and catch fire!

J/K:)

The rear AC in my Navigator does the same thing - it seems to stop after it runs a couple of min. Possibly building up pressure or something???

It's not the icemaker?
The POS Samsung I have makes a horrendous pop noise unless I turn off the ice maker.

GOod luck. We have had two of these refrigerators and the first had major issues. Because it is a counter depth and there are limited models available in Hawaii we bought another one while we waited for the first to be repaired. It broke down in October and finally was fixed, after several try’s, in March.

Appliances are not designed to make it more than 5 years. Just another great product coming out of Asia these days.

Its crazy when you look at reviews for new products. The dishwasher we just bought all the reviews said things like "it's so much quieter than my 20 year old dishwasher we replaced." I'm sitting here saying you had a dishwasher last you 20 years and you replaced it? I would have spent the money to fix that thing rather than get onto the replace every 5 year carousel.

How dirty / full of lint are the coils. Could it be it needs a good cleaning underneath? Just thinking out loud nothing more.

Check the icemaker. Maker sure all of the moving parts are free to move. Perhaps empty the icemaker and make sure everything is working properly.

It's 100% not the ice maker dropping ice into the bucket. I live alone and don't use ice unless I'm having cocktails which is only on the weekends. It's been going on for awhile now and last night I got woken up in the middle of the night by the popping noise. Getting over it. I'll clean out the bottom and empty the ice maker to see if that helps.

Long shot but years ago had a similar noise during the auto defrost cycle. The heaters were in glass tubes in the freezer and had broken. When the water hit them it would make a popping noise/

Not ice dropping but a mechanical pop noise. It literally sounded like someone tapping a hammer on the side of fridge.

Mine made a noise just like that for the longest time, the noise is gone away but now it doesn’t make ice anymore

My Samsung makes a popping noise a few times a week. Been doing it for 9 years.

Not when ice is dropping itself. It’s the ice cube flipper mechanism that pops them from their tray.

Our drink fridge at the lake does that. No water to the ice maker, and when the ice maker arm gets inadvertently dropped down (as if to tell it to make ice) then we hear a similar “popping” noise when it’s trying to eject phantom ice.

Had a similar issue. Two different issues causing noise. 1-The worm drive ice feeder was interfering with a broken plastic part in the ice maker. When someone activated ice, there was a loud mechanical clicking. 2-the mechanism to eject ice was broken or stripped. Probably caused by ice cubes being frozen solid the ice maker and not ejecting. Because the cubes never ejected from the freezing tray, it sensed that ice was ready and kept trying to eject every few minutes. I unplugged the ice maker at this point and never determined what actually broke or stripped out. My fridge had a connector behind the ice maker that allowed it to be disconnected. You may want to disconnect and see if the noise disappears.

My new LG starting making a popping noise as the piece that drops the ice into the bucket starts spinning.
