The launch ramp is being under cut by the current, what is proposed to fix this?

Last week a a triple axel trailer was on the ramp and two of the three axels were past the ramp an into the hole.

Thanks Nick! now about the launch ramp, I believe the launch ramp is more important than any gate, if the launch ramp continues to be undermined, there will not be an easy way to fix it. Contrary to peoples belief, the Army Corp. or DWP does not lower the water level for people along the river to perform maintenance, the ramp needs attention before it collapses.

I should have flagged RD down and used his water proof camera, besides,
shouldn't you be worrying about your own damn launch ramp! :D

Here's how they did ours, they pump the crete in while the form's under water and placed the pre fab slabs on top of the footings.

I think BOTH of the issues need to taken care of. Because of some people thinking their special and lack of maintenance for years the homeowners will now be faced with two issues that need to be addressed. The homeowners are left wide open for a law suit since half of the time you can't get through the roads and now possible damage to watercraft that is launched on our ramp. Sounds like some poor management on the part of the Board and some owners that think they have more rights than other owners.

May be a poor choice of words "poor management" probably should have been "poor Planning"

By the way whose trailer was it????

People from the Annex, their boat broke down and needed a place of retrieval, not sure how they got through the gate though, it was locked during that time.

I spoke to Rob about the launch ramp prior to this thread, this thread was meant to bring it to the attention of the owners prior to the meeting, not a jab at the governing body.

Does the problem with the Launch Ramp have anything to do with the "undermining" of some of the Cabanas? Is the HOA responsible for that 2?

If you ever do go off the end of the ramp, if you float the boat off the trailer, you can normally lift the trailer back on the ramp( one person driving forward) if you try to pull it out, with the truck you normally just make it worse/ damage the trailer.

I've had the ramp colaspe underneath my boat more then once.

Sand bags are another quick fix that will work for a short period of time.

This has nothing to do with the undermining of the cabanas. (Homeowners are responsible for repairs to the cabanas, not the HOA) It turns out that there is only a 3' section of the launch ramp that is "undermined." It is only about 18" in and the entire ramp is poured on top of another ramp. It is stable and will not fail. It does however, have a 12" drop off from the end.

Wheeler and I looked at it yesterday and determined that a few cinder blocks with some rock poured over the top of it will fix the problem. That will extend the ramp further into the river for the longer trailers and hopefully prevent any further loss of sand around the end of the ramp. All we have to do is get the rock delievered and spread. It would be better if we could wait until the spring or maybe even when they lower the river this year. Hopefully we can get it spread before the hypothermia kicks in too bad. :)

Rob, I measured the water level at the end of the ramp and it's 34" deep tonight, we can only hope it goes down farther. I didn't measure the water temp. it's cold though!
