DJ AM (Nichole Ritchie's old flame) and Travis Barker from Blink 182 are in critical.

Perry Farrell from "Jane's Addiction" may have been on board, they aren't saying yet.
Here is the link.

Really sad......

"(CNN) -- A man who came across a fiery jet crash said he saw former Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker and disc jockey Adam "DJ AM" Goldstein trying to extinguish the flames on their bodies by ripping off their clothing.

"We turned to the jet to try and see if there was anything we could do, but immediately, there was nothing anyone could do," William Owens told CNN affiliate WIS in Columbia, South Carolina. "I felt ill or sick to think that these lives were snuffed out at that point."

The two men were in critical condition with extensive burns Saturday. The crash killed four other people on board, authorities said.

The Learjet 60 carrying six people, including Barker and Goldstein, was taking off from the Columbia Metropolitan Airport in South Carolina on Friday night when it went off the runway. The plane crashed through light towers and an antenna array before crossing a road and stopping at an embankment, authorities said.

Owens came across the plane wreck while driving and stopped to see whether he could help.

Lexington County Coroner Harry O. Harman said all the dead in Friday's crash were Californians.

He identified them as pilot Sarah Lemmon, 31, of Anaheim Hills; co-pilot James Bland, 52, of Carlsbad; Chris Baker, 29, of Studio City; and Charles Still, 25, of Los Angeles.

The Associated Press reported that Baker was an assistant to Barker and Still was a security guard for the musician.

Owens told WIS-TV he was driving on Highway 302 when he saw a fireball. Owens stopped and crossed across the road, which was doused with fuel, to get close to the wreckage.

Barker was standing in the road, trying to extinguish his burning pants, Owens told WIS-TV.

Owens and Goldstein walked toward the plane, but there was nothing they could do to help, he said.

Federal investigators recovered the cockpit voice recorder from the crash site but said they aren't sure whether information on the device survived the blaze.

Investigators are also obtaining recordings of conversations between controllers in the tower and the jet's two-person crew, said National Transportation Safety Board spokeswoman Debbie Hersman.

"Air traffic controllers did observe sparks from the aircraft as it was going down the runway and immediately alerted fire-rescue crews at the airport," Hersman said Saturday evening in West Columbia.

Full recovery expected for Travis Barker and Adam Goldstein after plane crash.

The former Blink-182 drummer and the disc jockey known as DJ AM suffered second- and third-degree burns in a Learjet crash in South Carolina that killed 4.

By Ari B. Bloomekatz, Los Angeles Times Staff Writer
2:25 PM PDT, September 21, 2008

The crew of a Learjet that crashed in South Carolina this weekend, killing four Southern Californians, including the two pilots, thought a tire had blown out just before they skidded off the runway, federal transportation officials said today.

Former Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker and celebrity disc jockey Adam Goldstein were also aboard the jet and were critically injured in the crash. Both are from Los Angeles.

Debbie Hersman, spokeswoman and board member of the National Transportation Safety Board, said investigators had recovered the cockpit's voice recorder and spent hours dissecting the relevant minutes of conversation between the Learjet's two pilots.

"The crew reacted to a sound consistent with a tire blow out," Hersman said today. "The crew attempted to reject the takeoff, but they were unable to stop the aircraft before it departed the runway," she said.

Doctors also said today that Barker and Goldstein are expected to "fully recover" from the crash Friday night in South Carolina.

Officials at the Joseph M. Still Burn Center in Augusta, Ga., including the center's medical director, Dr. Fred Mullins, said the men suffered second- and third-degree burns but no other serious injuries.

"Dr. Mullins also stated this morning that he expects a full recovery for these two patients," said Beth Frits, spokeswoman for the burn center. "We've got walking miracles when you look at the plane crash."

Frits said that Barker and Goldstein, known as DJ AM, were listed in critical but stable condition and "are not getting any worse."

The Learjet crashed shortly before midnight Friday in Columbia killing Chris Baker, 29, of Studio City and Charles Still, 25, of Los Angeles, both members of Barker's entourage.

Also killed were pilot Sarah Lemmon, 31, of Anaheim Hills and co-pilot James Bland, 52, of Carlsbad, Calif., according to the Lexington County coroner's office.

The small plane, en route to Van Nuys, was taking off from Columbia Metropolitan Airport when air traffic controllers saw sparks. Officials described what happened next as a "high-speed overrun."

The jet veered off the end of the runway, plowed through a perimeter fence and then crossed a roadway before slamming into a berm, where it became engulfed in a "significant fire," NTSB spokesman Peter Knudson said.

Hersman said investigators had worked for 12 hours to collect evidence along the airport's 8,600 feet-long runway, finding the craft's main landing gear and a piece of rubber from a tire, among other debris. "The aircraft came to rest about a quarter mile from the end of the runway," she said.

He said investigators were now collecting witness statements.

The crash came hours after Barker and Goldstein's show Friday, which included performances by former Jane's Addiction singer Perry Ferrell and singer Gavin DeGraw. It had drawn about 10,000 people into the streets of the Five Points neighborhood near the University of South Carolina, Columbia Mayor Bob Coble told the Associated Press.

The plane was operated by Global Exec Aviation of Long Beach and was certified to operate last year, an NTSB official said.

Barker, 32, played drums in the platinum-selling band and also starred in his own MTV reality show. Goldstein, 35, is also owns the Hollywood hot spot LAX.

Today, family members for Barker and Goldstein released a shared statement:

"Both Travis Barker and Adam Goldstein (DJ AM) are currently being treated for second and third degree burns. Barker suffered from burns on his torso and lower body and Goldstein suffered from burns on his arm and a portion of his head," according to the statement. "Since both Barker and Goldstein are in overall good health and didn't suffer from any other crash-related complications, a full recovery is expected."

The focus is on a main landing gear failure on departure......a very unlikely cause, especially since the aircraft was only two years old.

Aircraft crashes suck. :(

Very sad news, I heard in one report that the tower reported seeing sparks from the plane and that the pilot radioed the tower saying they were going to over run the runway.
