Breakdown #3 in 4 years. I will never again recommend crap like this. Thing is I like Samsung, have many of their TV's. Hell, my kids even fight in Korean.

So it needs a pump and a control board plus the tech thinks bearings are a little loose.

Total to fix...$488.

I dont know how to say "Fuck LG" in Korean but I'm going to find out. Keep in mind this thing was over a $1k when we bought it.

Plus the matching dryer's auto moisture sensor crapped out in year two so we just use time dry now. What a joke.

So if your thinking front load's, skip it and just get loaded. Much cheaper and then you wont care if soap is left in your clothes or they smell like mold after washed.

BTW I paid the tech his $65 bucks and sent him packing. Merry freaking Christmas Honey...hope you like your new washer. J/K. :D

I swear that's the new racket. Washers dryers and fridges. 3-4 years and then bye bye. It's bullshiat and I hate the pimply faced kids that sell them, acting like 3-4 years is "good".

Our $2K Kenmores went out in 3 years.

Sadly, those days are gone. :(

If there's anything I've learned, it's buy the model with the least amount of electronics. Knobs and old fashioned dials are your best friends.

For appliances, I usually check Consumer Reports :thumbsup
Their reliability ratings have proven accurate for me, we buy based on their recos.

From what I recall, many front load washers clean better and use less water, but are finicky amd more prone to repair.

You can add water heaters to that list. Nothing last's anymore.

I will find a stream and some rocks before that happens. :D:D

What do I buy? I hate this shit. :grumble:

LOL. Hater :D

Have some fun Merrill. Next time your planning a trip to Parker let us know. Id like to help strap you into fosittys white rocket. let him turn the juice on and let you enjoy the ride.

Mines to comfy. Doesn't even feel like your running hard.

I have had my top load old school Kenmore since the late 80s. Its starting to make noises but like my jetbote, its still running strong. Almost picked up one them front loaders but the kid selling them told me they suck. Glad I passed it up. I know many that have them and they seam to have a few issues. Definitely buy the insurance for them.

Appliances in general seem to be shit these days. I just replaced my dishwasher. The last one was only 4 years old. I also had to recently replace a garbage disposal that was only 2 years old.

I've got a cheapo Kenmore washer and dryer set I bought used. The guy I bought them from had only had them for a couple of months, they're about 3 years old now and knock on wood, I haven't had any problems yet. They're the knob style washer and dryer. I was planning to upgrade to a front loader set when we move in to the new place. I may rethink that idea now.

Everything seems to be this way nowadays. Even furniture. I replaced all my living room furniture a few months back. The wood they use nowadays is so thin the the furniture doesn't weigh sh*t. The tables scratch just from being looked at.

We're thinking from now on just buy the cheapie COSTCo washer/dryer with the cheap-o warranty.
The days of quality appliances are over.

mine are both GE, the dryer is on about 9 years now, only issue was the buzzer stoped working about a year ago... no biggy, the washer is on 6 years, no issues.

The last set were GE too, they lasted 17 and 22 years respectivly.

They are nothing fancy, middle of road products.

The ge fridge that was bought the same time as the washer and dryer, went away this year, do to it making a funny noise and a free replacment program if your all electric.

Our Whirlpool Duet front loaders are from Costco. I'd say they are 5 years old???? Anyhow never had a single problem and my wife does laundry every single day.

We replaced all the kitchen appliances with KitchenAid 5 years ago.
However, I'll keep the 22 year old Admiral washer&dryer as long as I can.:thumbsup. Checked the new units at Home Depot, Lowes, they look blingy but touching the controls alone, one can feel they're crap.

My mom has the Duets also. She's had a couple minor issues but nothing major. Going on probably close to 5 years now. I've got a regular ole set of whirlpools. They came with the house when I bought it. I've had to fix a couple minor things but so far they've been great. The wife wants a new set of these fancy front loaders. I told her I'd get them if she promises to do the laundry again. Doesn't look like I'm gettin them anytime soon. LOL

We have nearly that exact LG model, and we are going on 7 years basically trouble free.....no repairs needed. I didn't figure out it had a filter until it stopped draining and we had a biohazard of a filter, but that was just maint. And, one time, it threw an error code and had trouble spinning the drum. I just rotated it by hand a few times and it hasn't acted up since, and that was about 3 years ago. We've been really happy with our LG washer and dryer. I'd say your washer is probably suffering from user error. :p

Our LG is about 3 years old.
Not one glitch ever. Gets used every day.

Not that model, I think we paid around $700.00 for it on sale?

The reviews put the LG above the Samsung similar priced.

This is exactly why I sent the service guy packing. Tomorrow morning I am getting up at rooster 30 and tearing the POS apart. I hope it's just clogged with goop. I have read on-line just now that many have had this problem. That tech almost had a check out of Deb before she called me. That thing runs every day, debs parents are in from Ohio, piss poor timing.

Thanks for all the additional input friends. I will retun to this deal after I install a LS2 and a new Jet pump in the bitch.:D

We bought the same LG Tromm's used about a year ago and they were already a year old. They've worked perfect, no problems at all. They clean and dry great. Paid 800 for both with the stands. Had ken more washer dryer before that lasted about 9 years before they crapped out. Our kitchenaide dish washer has taken a dump after 6 years. Seriously sounds like you got a lemon.

We've had these for 3 1/2 years and no problems at all.

The one thing about the front load washers is they spin real fast and if they're not secured well they will move around. Ours is upstairs so it tends to rattle the house a bit at times.

So far OK but the dryer is starting to sing.
Got the 5 year warranty with them from Home Depot.

We have the LG steam model. I think top of the line model. About 1100-1300ish. Second time down. First was the door seal and the bearing for the tub. Second was the pump that drains it. Glad I popped for the extended service plan which I never buy. But that doesn't make up for not having a washer with two kids here for a few days or a week.

You see that little door on the bottom left front? Pop it open. that is where the filter is - it just unscrews out by hand. There might be some water in there, so have a towel underneath. We have an additional complication in that we are on a well, so we have no chlorine in our water and stuff grows really easy. We run it empty once a week with chlorine bleach to clean it out and then spray a little X-14/bleach in the door seal.

We had it fixed twice under the extended Warranty. I only bought a 3yr. Door seal once and something with the drive control.

I don't think the things been working right for some time.

Peeling that seal up was a real eye opener. The seal drain holes get clogged and then the thing will leak out the door.

I will check this door for the filter. Thanks a bunch Frank.

I just noticed you have the washer and drier on the wrong sides. What an A-hole for making your wife deal with the doors back to back like that! I know, I know....the service to them is set up that way. So was mine, but I'm a real man, a man who discovered the wheel and built the Eiffel tower out of steel and brawn.....adjusting the service setup was easier than changing a tube on an XR 50!

Based on that I will need to borrow your car and spend 1/2 a day to change it. Pass. :D

They were delivered and installed like that because of the plumbing and dryer vent constraints. The dryer door is flipped. Wife couldn't give a shit about the washer door. I have never bothered to do anything about it. Maybe tomorrow since I have to dig in there I will look into flipping the washer door.

I've had Kenmore front loaders for 5 years now with no issues. Paid $1,300 total for both new at Sears Outlet in Santa Anna with only minor blemishes.
Now watch the fukers break...

Now a days they all break sooner or later depending on use. At my Moms pad she does 2+ loads a day and kills washers every couple years . Repair costs are outrageous on most. Few months ago she went with a Speed Queen. They specialize in commercial laundromats and are suppose to be easiest to repair.

FIXED - Plugged filter. Actually beyond plugged. Machine works fine. Decided to clean out the dryer as well. First load went through like normal. Thanks Frank.

I should have known something was up because the washer was taking an extra long time to wash. 50 min was like 2 hrs. because it could not pump out the water. This is just not something I pay attention to. I will now.

So I called the repair people back and told them you need to refund the service call charge since all the dick head camel humper had to do was clean the filter. It does not need a pump or a control board. What a freaking crook. If I get my card refunded Good...if not they will suffer the RDP wrath.

The washer door is not reversible either. Just the dryer. Based on this fact alone I bet you copied the wheel patent and made all the money.

Now that you know it is there, it is pretty easy to keep clean. More of a screen than a filter. I bet that was fairly gnarly!

What an effin' joke. Did you use a credit card? I'd call the CC company and dispute the bill if they still bill you.

And I just got longer hoses and put the dryer on the right and washer on the left. The washer is a tad forward because of the vent for the dryer going behind it.

Gnarly is an understatement. These dudes are in their own dedicated room. If I switch them, the washer will stick out and then we cant close the door.

in the past year i'e replaced my washer, dryer, fridge and trash compactor off of craigslist for $400.00 bucks. screw the 3 manufacturers producing all the major brand name appliances. it's actually been kinda fun learning the players in the game. nothing feels better than shitcanning my 6 year old $1400.00 maytag fridge for a $200.00 stainless ge model at an estate sale!
