I have never hear of this company before there boats especially the 27st look nice but I have made that mistake before(buying a boat from a co. I was not familiar with that looked good):grumble: anyway can anyone here tell me any personal experience with this Co. How is the ride, quality of the product, price vs others, etc, vs companies that make similar boats? Thanks

I thought they were out of biz? But the boats are nice I think the owners of lightning have caused the problems with some people.

Well Lightning is out of biusness for now. They still own their building and say they will open back up when the economy turns around, I guess time will tell. Well I'm on my second Lightning boat and all I can say is that they are great boats. I had an 05 25SX and it was a fast boat, but then I had the opportunity to buy one of the 27ST. All I can say is that I love me new boat. It is pretty fast for a stock boat and they are built well. They are not the best boat out there I'm sure, but gor me is was a great starter cat. I will probably never get rid of this boat. I have talked to other people that own them as well and they are all pretty happy too. What are you looking
at getting?

I love my 2006 Lightning 247XS. It is well built, using the best names in equipment/rigging, and pretty quick for a stock boat. Very happy with the performance. Finding history is difficult, not much available on the Internet.

Wish the company was more visible in advertising & promotional items. Their website hasn't changed in at least 3 years and they offer no merchandise on line. Hope they hang in there.

The Lightning 27 and the 25 cat and deckboat are the old Orion molds tooled up by Martin Casillas when he left Ultra and tried to start his own company.

The 247 mold originated from DCB, then went to Ultra, then Lightning. DCB's Extreme 28 is almost identical, just bigger. Definitely a nice boat.

Thanks for the info. I knew about Ultra, but not about DCB.

For the businees end of things, start searching Jason Van Beek or Jerry Van Beek and/or Lighting Boats. You'll get an eyeful.

This is all very true, but all I can say is from my own personal experience Jerry has never done me wrong is a very nice person. He is always there to help me out with anything I need, and if he can't points me in the right direction. Like I said ealier they built a nice boat and I love mine:)

Wow. Just wow. Almost wish I hadn't followed the trails. I must be one of the (few?) fortunate Lighting owners. I'm a second owner so I never dealt with the factory. So far mine is top notch!.
