Mobile smog testing

Saw this going down the 101 near Thousand Oaks today , was being followed by a truck with a sign that said : emissions testing ahead

I heard these are voluntary. Odd that they make you stop for a voluntary action. I don't understand who would ever say ok.

Aka this is not what you think it is, yes those are 100% voluntary. But what's pictured looks like a mobile smog machine strapped to a VW driving down the road... I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it's probably cause they got caught messin around with the govt and their smog requirements.

To be honest I've seen them on other cars too, but funny it's in a Vw lol

That makes sense. I wasnt even thinking along the lines of the VW scandal. Would bet they have a ton to prove the the govt about how they really fixed the problem.

Yeah those mobile stations you were thinking of usually aren't on the freeway lol

Yeah VW pissed off alot of treehuggers, they definitely had some splaining to do.

I saw what was quoted as hundreds of thousands in Colorado Springs CO as well. Looked insane. I love them and would still take a recall off their hands. They bought mine back from me for a lot more than I thought it was worth. Didn't want to let it go. Had to get a Honda for a commuter. Not the same.

Close to 300,000 cars in 37 lots across the country, VIctorville, Pikes Peak Raceway, Pontiac Silverdome are three of them.
