this would be another one for the home improvement or diy section I was thinking might be cool, but anyways... mother in law is giving us her old fridge. They leave out of town tomorrow and want it gone today. All I have is myself and my truck. My winch and come a longs are not in the truck I just took them out, so there went the first idea. Idea number 2 which seems fine is rent a trailer from Home Depot, with some Dolly’s and ramps I think I could do it solo. Maybe not... any other ideas?pretty shitty that the one day it rains in California is the day I have shit to do. All this will be after work at 230 of course

Got a hand truck, 2 wheel dolly? Roll that bitch to your tail gate lay it on its side and load it up. I do this shit all the time.
That sounds good to me! Someone said I had to keep it standing up though for some reason. Leaking something I dunno. I do drywall

They were concerned that the oil in the refrigerant would become displaced in to the coil instead of the compressor.

My buddy used to own an appliance store. He echoed the same sentiment. It is OK to lay it on it's side to travel, but leave it upright overnight before you plug it in so the oil can settle back into the compressor.

I wonder if there is a youtube video on that tale?

Stand up dolly with a strap. Not the weak ones, but the pro mover ones. Probably available for rent at HD, U haul or any equipment place. You can slide it into the truck and just leave it strapped to the dolly.

I have moved a few fridges, any good dolly load it onto the tailgate with a moving pad slide it in the truck when you pull it out just pull out enough to let the bottom end eased down to the ground then stand it up...never ever had an issue doing it this way, never damaged fridge or trucks either.

Don’t be a snowflake.

I loaded a fridge in a pick up and moved It up a flight of stairs by myself with a dolly.

The dolly makes is easy. You could have have done it in the time you’ve spent on creating this thread.

Go buy your little kubota tractor and drive out to RD's to borrow his trailer so to you can take the tractor to load and unload the fridge. Since it's a drive take your wife so you have someone to talk to.

I’m going to try to buy one of those today. Got stuck at work with the floor cleaners

lol. That picture is actually from my ad on OfferUp. I'll let it go for cheaper but this is top-of-the-line. Will balance the fridge by itself.

How mu

How much?

You quoted me before I edited my post. I threw it in there. You can just borrow it if you don't have a need beyond today. I don't know how many times I've use this thing though between myself, family, and friends. Just don't plan on moving again.

They are badass. You can move a fridge with one guy and a toddler. I have one and will never sell it. I’ve rebuilt it with parts from the and grainier.

I move chit like that by myself all the time. Just use a throw rug on stairs and slide it down. They when at the tailgate, drape the rug on edge of tailgate and slide it in the bed. Unless of course you not man enough to do heavy lifting or have back problems.

If the refrigerator is less than 15 years old the old lay it down thing and you can't plug it in for a while is an old wives tale

Not an old wives tale. Just doesn't happen as easily with the new compressors.

This right here. Leave it upright for a day or 2 and you're just fine!

Grabbed the dolly from chump change last night (thing is pretty bad ass) headed over to grab 10 bales of hay then going to grab the fridge. Need to go get a bunch of roofing materials for the shed, and a bunch of molding so I can have the baseboards started next week. Should be a pretty productive day. I’d like to squeeze a hair cut in but we’ll see. Back to one day a week off is tough but I need the money so whatever I guess.
