Coming home last night we broke a leafspring on a small toyhauler. We left it at Big Apple Automotive on the edge of Victorville. This morning they are telling me it will be $1200 to repair and they want to send it to Riverside to have the work done. Any reccommendations on somewhere in the high desert to replace a single leaf spring on a 23' Carson toyhauler?

Order a leaf spring /shackle/hardware, head out with a floor jack and a battery impact and crescent wrench…you’ll be on the road in 30 minutes.

Edit.

Business is slow this week. Have the parts sent to my house and I’ll go fix it and tow it back to Long Beach for $600

Range says they can't take it in until Nov. 16. My hometown guy says not until December. Calling the mobile guy suggested now.
Another option:

Did you call affordable RV and see if they have the correct spring in stock?

It seems no one in the high desert has one on the shelf so I guess I will be doing it myself when I can find some time. My wife is waiting for AAA now. They told her to expect to wait 3-4 hours. She ain't real happy with them right now.

Thanks for all of the suggestions but it seems like all of these places are loaded with work and slim on parts. Today's economy I guess.

Call Carson trailer in Gardena to see if they have parts. Ask for Ron he has always helped me with parts.

Don't know where your heading to...... but if it's geographically desirable Accurate Trailer and Hitch in Santa Clarita has done me good with incredibly fast service...

Benlow in Irwindale usually has a good selection of parts. Best to take a sample though.

Do you know what chassis it is? As in...

My Weekend Warrior sits on a Zieman chassis. It helps to know this when trying to get parts.

I broke a leaf spring in Barstow and got to Home depot and made a makeshift repair that has about 1000 miles on it as of right now.

I got brackets in the electrical aisle for building unitstrut racks and bolted them together. Once you get it home buy another leaf from Carson or on Amazon and swap it out. Easy job if you have a floor jack and some stands.

If one broke go ahead and replace the others. 1 the new one will be stiffer and cause shackles to be uneven, 2 you are on borrowed time with the others. They are pretty inexpensive and are pretty easy to do. Replace the shackles too.

Another parts source option
Redneck trlr supply...Ontario distribution ctr.
Arrow trlr supply in Ontario on holt blvd.
Pacific boat trlr in chino...they typically
⁴⁵have a good inventory of parts.

All you really need to know is center to center dimensions on leaf eyes, # of leafs in pkg and axle load rating or leaf itself. Trlr mfg is practically useless..

So the latest is that after 10 hours AAA still cannot find a suitable flatbed. I removed the old parts and found I can't do the install without a couple floor jack's.
Pretty pissed that this is the second time AAA has left me high n dry with trailer problems.
A & B was a good call. My heart thanks to whoever's suggested it.
Waiting now for a buddy to bring a couple Jack's. I'm sure the wife's migraine will make the time just fly by. She has been here since 9 a.m. Here being 100 ft from a 6 bay repair shop that says they do engine and trans, tires, basically everything but couldnt do this apparently for a woman in need.

I would have taken this offer and made the wife happy, although getting the part may be a problem. That was/is a nice offer.

Well we made it down the hill.

Almost. Blew a tire and had to leave the truck and trailer in a large dirt area where several semi's were parked on the Kenwood offramp. This set of tires is only 4 years old with very little travel time. So today I have to get a new tire mounted as the new spare, leave work at noon, drive back to Redlands to get wife, drive up to Victorville to get my car from last night, drive it home, then back to Devore with wife to retrieve rig.
So frustrating and yet all of this crap happened relatively close to home and I was always able to find a safe spot to pull off the road when needed. I am feeling pretty blessed that we went out this weekend with a relatively light trailer load. If we hadn't all of this would have happened on Thanksgiving weekend as that is the next trip planned.

Calculated risk....glad it worked out for you..while your swapping out suspension give the whole chassis, shackle welds etc. A good close look. Might as well know it'strue cond. now and address as/if needed to insure many fun/safe trips down the road. I wonder why the leaf spring failed?

Ive broken 3 on 3 different 5th wheels. I started carrying springs and shackles after the second one. On the tripple axle i just dumped all the fresh water out to unload some weight pulled the wheel and ratchet strapped the axle up to the frame and made it home. When it happened on a dual axle that was a bitch looking everywhere to try and find a spring on a Sunday.
