Lucky SOB, I'd give my left nut to go up in an F14. Sexy ass plane.

Filming of the flyby.

So funny to see how old the pilot looks now. Then it dawned on me that the movie is 33 years old and then I felt really fucking old, thanks.

Hard to believe Top Gun came out 30+ years ago. Most of my F-14 buddies are in their 60s. Did this photo shoot at Miramar NAS in 1989. The Bone was pretty cool. .95M (700mph) on the deck, at night.

The 80s were cool, but I just can't let go of the 1970s. I think I'm "holding on too tight."

I'm more of a fan of the F4 Phantom as far as looks go. To me, that is a sexy ass plane.

Also prefer a p40 to a p51.

I'm weird I guess

F4 is what a fighter jet should sound like. Jet noise the sound of freedom.

Love the Mach Loop videos and Star Wars Canyon videos floating around on Youtube. We've definitely got some talented pilots out there!

Fortunately I have been low level through Star Wars Canyon as well as other canyons in an F-4, T-38 and an F-106 years ago.
I was a controller and air space manager for R-2508 Complex for 29 years.
The best back seat ride was 1.7 Mach in the F-106 at 50,000 feet.
I actually got to fly the planes.
I am glad to be retired but I miss those days.
I am kind of a historian of Edwards AFB as I grew up there and came back to work there for 29 years.
Cheers.:)

I was an F-14 Ordnance man 84-87. I was in VF-24 Fighting Renegades. They filmed a lot of that movie at our squadron. The ready room in the movie was our ready room. I was told it was our CO that flew that fly by. Not sure but I do remember them buzzing the tower a bunch of times for the movie. Volleyball courts were right behind our barracks. Kenny Logins came and toured the hanger. Best Fighter jet ever, but I am biased.
