Hello all;

What are people liking for nice throttle controls? I need to replace my stock Volvo-Penta all in one with something that is not coming apart internally. I am thinking of the double stick off shore style instead of the never works right all in one. Price is a consideration but quality is just as important. Seen a few nice billet ones.

What do people have or like?

Thanks

Dana
There have been a bunch of threads on this subject over the years and as I recall the overall opinion has been the same.

So yup, those look like what I am after. Any advantage of one over the other? Although they look a little different from a style perspective, they appear to be the same functionally.
Am I missing something?

Same function. Just the design of canted vs straight levers and the overall look.

I have the Hardin controls, I like them over the Dana because they are canted and offer better styling.

As far as functionality goes. These are the bees knees! Super smooth shifting and throttle control.

Did you use 33c cables or Merc cables? Still debating on the Hardin or Dana.
The cable issue is why I have put this off for the last year. My boat runs proprietary Volvo Penta cables..... Not something generic. I found a "cable guy" that can make custom cables with any end on them for a very reasonable price so I will be going that route shortly. This only gets complicated if I ever need to re-cable the boat. I will use good quality cables which will probably outlive the boat that is already over 20 years old.

I installed the Dana in my Baja. The offshore controls make it so nice manuvering around a dock, trailering the boat, cruising the channel. Money well spent.

I bought some used livorsi. Nothing to come apart. All powder coated brass and screws.

The Livorsi twin setup is nice. They are super smooth.

Yes it is. And it's fairly adjustable for longer or shorter throw

I paid 150 for a twin setup.

Proprietary Volvo cables? Every Volvo I have ever worked on from Chrysler marine to DPSB drives uses 33c style cables up until they started switching to electronic controls.

I'd be interested in seeing a pic of those cable ends

I very well could be wrong but everything I have read says they run about four different styles and its a bit of a grab bag as to what you have. Looking at pictures of 33c's, they are similar but differ in length of terminals. Overall fairly similar.
