It’s official. I tried to restrain myself and not order one but I couldn’t resist. I was so impressed with the handling and habits of this boat I need to have one.

Similar colors to my 28SS. All the same equipment as the 28SS.

Damm you guys are on it ! I love it.
The boatshow boat ran 117 and I’m sure it’ll do 120 with a little more dialing in ......honestly that’s quite incredible for a boat that size. I’m really good with that top end.
This boat is going to see some big water all over the place. That’s the mission.

My 28SS is still the fastest STOCK 400 boat to my knowledge and that hot rod is waiting for me anytime to get my adrenaline fix.:D

The question is: Will Merc have a bigger power option by the time it gets to the rigging stage? If they do, would you entertain different power or sticking with the rock solid 400Rs?

That’s an interesting question. I’m in Atlanta now. Going to Miami on Friday and boat show Friday , Saturday. I don’t think we will be seeing a bigger motor anytime soon.
Everything I’ve heard all my sources say the 400 is probably still it. I think they’re still developing the next big motor. Probably not a good idea to release it to early. But we shall see very soon. I’ll be posting up all kinds of stuff on the church from the show.

The beauty of this ride is I DON’T have to haul ass.......Huge selling point........NO DAMM HOP ANYWHERE.

70-80 is great
Do you have time to do a review on your DW? Goods, bad, likes, dislikes, price point compared to others, stuff like that? I know you're very busy, but your insight into the OB cats in my opinion is big for us guys getting ready to make the plunge.

I knew this was only a matter of time...congrats and can't wait to see it com to life!

There's room for four 400s...did you give 4 a thought at all? I would figure a ton of extra weight and cost with not much return in top speed.

"...some big water, all over the place."

Big blue and traveling places? A boat to take to beat up on Floridians...or further? That sounds really cool, whatever the case may be.

;) "I don't have to haul ass...70-80 is great..."
I could put 2 bottles and a blower on my 496...and have a 75mph hand grenade:D

Congrats Paul! Will be an awesome addition to your floatilla

The 35SS is our next boat.....I am taking my F32 to DCB for new upholstery next week and keeping it until the new bigger power outboards come out from Mercury Racing, hopefully with props (and prop shafts) to match. Once the bigger power OB's are announced, and can be bought, will have Thane build us a 35SS.

It will be VERY interesting to see how many people with big power I/O's switch to whackers.

I've been thinking that for twenty years...since the first time a bass boat passed me on the river:eek: Will stubbornness give way to logic?o_O

It is already happening..... If Merc does offer a 500 HP outboard as rumored, with respective bigger pitch props and shafts, that would be enough to get me to make the jump. At that point I can give up the 20 MPH top speed for a turn key, maintenance free deal. It wont accelerate as hard from 80-140 but will be good enough.

Thanks Don !!!
Why wait. Might as well build it now no new motor this year. At least not until fall at the earliest. Power it with 400s and then once the new engines have a little time on them. Have Nordic switch them out super easy. Plug and play.

Just think of all the money you’ll save on scattered I/O components. One trip to Valencia can buy a pair of Outboards. Hell maybe even a pair plus a spare. :D

Don, you know we do interiors right??? :D

I thought about it John but in the end I really wanted DCB's new high back seats to modernize the cockpit and the resale was going to be best with OEM seats and badging. There is no doubt that your team could do a 1st class job on my boat and if I were reusing the existing seats I would have gone your way.

That is both cool and weird! Drawing, some tape laid down and some spray painting...and after a couple weeks it emerges! Yes, I understand it's a lot of work to this point, and a lot more ahead, but from concept to hull is impressive as hell to me.

Looks really good!

Curious will this be vacuum bagged and left in the mold a little longer than most, as to avoid some of the waves down the sides like is being seen more and more on the bigger boats!

So dialing in for 130s now? ;)
Is yours a standard layup or custom lightweight build and what do these big girls weigh? Nothing on the website about these.

The first one went 117 with no effort at all.
With the additional power it's going to be very nice to have a fully loaded boat that performs in all conditions at any speed with no hop. That's what I'm excited about. Lack of hop/Lack of porpoise.

It'll cruise at a 100 thats forsure

It's going to be plenty fast enough. I'm not sure what the number will be but I know I won't be disappointed.

I do know once you get up to higher altitude/Powell it will be very nice to have the additional power.

130 seems like a BIG # in this mammoth machine but if anyone is gonna dial 1 in its Bully. Running beside that 35 this past weekend was a ton of fun

It will do it. I’m pretty sure it should be right at 130 top end. That is going to be the new norm for these big outboards.

120 was the norm for the 400 powered cats. If the boat didn’t do 120 there was something wrong with the boat.

I also think they will get there much quicker.
