Someone here will know.

I own a truck that is currently in Havasu, I have a clean clear title in previous owners name, I have insurance on the vehicle from my OR insurance agent. I live in Oregon, and in order to register it in OR they want to see the truck and do a VIN inspection, obviously that isn't going to work. When I have purchased boats in the past I have been able to register them in AZ as an out of state resident. I own property in AZ if that matters. Does AZ have this same scenario with vehicles? If not, how do I register it in AZ in my name?

You can register the truck in AZ with an address, and you can use your OR address as your mailing address. Easy Peasy

Will I need proof of insurance that is from the state of AZ, or will my OR insurance work? Do they even care about insurance?

Well, for a long time, I used my California insurance, I would just mail in the insurance card since the CA insurance, and the AZ DMV didn't talk to eachother. I did it for probably a decade for 3 cars that I kept in AZ

You could get a different answer though.

Take the title to quick stop, it’s AZ to AZ they won’t need to see it. Just get it out of my name. 😬😂

In all the years I’ve lived in AZ I’ve never been asked for insurance at the MVD unless there’s a leinholder

AZ MVD electronically verifies insurance periodically with the insurers in the state. You don’t have to prove it because they get the information directly from the insurance companies. They can and will suspend registration for lack of insurance.

Be careful with this. I didn't get a renewal notice for my 2020 Denali, so went on-line to renew. I was unable to do it, so went to the MVD office. They said my registration was cancelled, due to no insurance. I showed them my VALID, UP TO DATE, insurance card and coverage history on the Progressive app, but they said it wasn't good enough, they needed a letter direct from the insurance co. showing that the insurance was in force, and had been throughout the registration year. Since both my vehicles are on the same policy, I had them check on my Silverado, which they said was current. When I asked how it could be valid for one and not the other on the same policy, and why they didn't send me a notice that the registration was being suspended, she just shrugged her shoulders and said she didn't know, and went in the back room, while I was on the phone with Progressive to get them to fax over the proof of insurance. While I was waiting for them to fax the letter, the head idiot came back and said there had been some kind of error on their end when they switched computer systems, or some other bullshit. When the got the fax, the "issue" was cleared up. NO apology. NO concern. Just an "Oh Well" attitude, and went back to her cellphone game.

What the fuck would have happened, if I (or my wife) had been stopped and the cop saw that my insurance was cancelled and my registration suspended? I know what would have happened. I would have gotten a very expensive ticket and my car towed and impounded with a 30 day hold on it.

This is how I found out about the whole thing…suspended registrations, license all of it due to MVD error.

I had the docs on my phone so the Arizona state trooper let me off with a warning… it was like 2 AM coming back from Vegas in the Havasu right when you get on the 95. I don’t think he wanted to screw with a tow at the time. It took three days of Fucking with the Mvd to fix everything. The trooper was nice enough but quite stern that he wouldn’t cut me a break the next time but that this happens all the time… It’s the government I’m sure the system went out to the lowest bidder.

Wait until your drivers license gets hacked, and someone else gets mailed a copy, and uses it to drain your bank account.
