does anyone have any knowledge of column replacement in an Inogen One G5 oxygen unit? Inogen shipped us a new column (filter) and it does not fit.....called the "emergency" number on the instructions and they can't help until maybe tomorrow!!!!

I did the youtube thing......several videos how to change filters but none that address the issue if the filter does not fit

Any chance they sent the wrong filter? Maybe for the G3 unit?

If the filter does not fit you must acquit.

Sounds like they sent the wrong filter

Sorry to hear. We had an issue with my MIL unit once and had a different number to call for emergencies than posted above. I will see if we have any of that info available. MIL passed a couple years ago

Edit. Sorry Gramps. I checked with the wife Any and all stuff / info we had has since been passed on.
Hope you get this all figured out.

slides in fine but it won't go completely in....1/8" too long
Not getting much on a Google search. Filter only go in one way? Some sort of cap for shipping still installed? Does it need to be indexed? Lube an o-ring? Sorry if this is all stuff you thought of, kinda grasping at straws trying to be helpful. Hope you get it sorted out. So frustrating.

Does it feel like the filter is not fitting in the base, or like it's close and won't quite pop in? As stupid as it sounds, could the o-rings or seals be too stiff, or the wrong thickness?

Does the new filter look the same as the old one? Just pulled the filter out of my wife's, it slid right back in. image.jpg image.jpg
Is this what it looks like? Same # on this side?

See if there are caps on the bottom where the holes are? I haven't put a new filter in this one yet. I bet there is a cap on the end that needs to be removed.
4 "ports" 2 at each end....2 males and 2 females....all have o rings

Might just have to slam it home. The inside of your unit looks a little different that ours.

I have leaned on it pretty hard.....more than I think is safe. Tomorrow I'll try to find a local outfit that can work on it and I'll talk to Inogen again...thanks for the help

Is the grey lever in the middle holding it up? Like it needs to be pulled back for the lip to slide down in?

In the last pic, is there any way the receiver could have become dislodged, like partially stuck when removing the first one? Maybe they aren't aligning?

Ask them for a couple of portable tanks for emergencies, we keep a couple just in case.
Hopefully you aren’t dealing with Lincare.

Just spent almost an hour on the phone with Inogen. Long story.........our unit is 4 years 10 1/2 months old. When a unit hits 5 years old they will not work on it/rebuild it. I can sent it to them and they will rebuild it - 6 weeks and $500+...The 6 weeks is a deal breaker. They do not sell the G5 anymore......it's being replaced by the Rove 6 which starts at ~$3200. I'm about ready to take our unit out to the shop and get a hammer to install the filter. I asked them about the $$$$ I just spent on the new filter / column.............tough shit is their attitude

Well that sucks, my wife’s is brand new. She hasn’t even charged the battery yet.
Dealing anything with O2 is a pia. Took us over 3 months to get the insurance than Lincare to get her a portable. We bought a used unit to get her through. But then we couldn’t get parts for it because we didn’t have the proper prescription. Best bet is to look online for parts or units.

We dealt with Lincare in Cedar City when my daughter went to SUU, they really sucked. Wife said we had fairly decent out of St George, but they dropped the ball more than once.

Going a little off camber here. Could you put a coat of chapstick where the 4 ports are, and test fit it? Not to lube it, but to see if possibly the lower tube are shifted. It will leave a mark, and you could see where they need to go. I see the ones deep down appear to have alignment deals in the plastic. I wonder if the others have twisted slightly due to heat or age.

just tried that.....it appears everything is aligned.....there is something preventing the filter from going the last 1/8" ..the filter stops right before it engages the ports and a gentle push you can feel them engaging into the ports ....reaching into the unit with a stick everything looks and feels solid.

and the rest of the story..............I sent a shitty email to Inogen, it landed in the right hands and I got a call with the fix. This whole mess was somewhat my fault. The filter is black, the connection deep inside the unitis black. The instructions say to take off the dust caps, there are 2 BIG gray dust caps that are easy to see...........now the problem. At the other end of the filter there is 2 small nipples (black) that plug into the bowels of the unit. Those have a "sleeve" on them. I did not see the sleeves and when I slid the filter into the machine the sleeves came off and got stuck in the ports. When you look inside the machine it looks like they are part of the machine...................Customer Care at Inogen tells me this happens very often. My thoughts are, make the sleeves more visible, like the other two sleeves are.
