It's been said a bunch already but just in case:

Crate train NOW and start obedience classes ASAP. Every dog is different in terms of temperament and history, the classes will teach YOU how to manage and train your dog.

I had a GSP/Lab mix puppy that took me to the limit. So much energy and so hard headed that I took to calling her Monster (her name was Kaci). I was ready to ship her back to the breeder but my adult kids were wise enough to take her for a couple of weeks to let me cool off. They are passionate Pit rescuers and connected me with a trainer that held classes and did 1:1 training as well. Made all the difference in the world. Dog turned out great in the end.

Your dog isn’t psycho - you’ve got a lab. Ours is about a year and a half - full on spazz. I can’t pet her when I get home from work or she’ll get too excited and pee all over the place. She still chews on everything - the furniture, doors, door moldings, the toilet hold down bolt covers, she even chewed up the water valve knob for the toilet tank. And she’s an English Lab so her fur is longer than regular labs and it’s all over. As much as I know she’d love to go to the river, she’s not going in the truck or in the boat. The wife is in charge of training since it’s her dog. She meets with a trainer once a week, but all she does is feed her treats. She’s a bonehead and just doesn’t seem to learn. I think doggie boot camp is in her future.

Exactly the same. This one is my third lab, I get the craziness, this one is ahead of the curve. The doggy boot camp was a life saver.

We got our Chocolate Lab at 5 weeks. Long story.
Got a crate, no problems went right in for a week or or so. Then one night went between the wall and the crate. Got her out. Did not want the crate anymore. Thought okay lets give this a go. Slept next to the bed, no accidents. Never went in the crate again.

I've had three Labs and all were similar in personality except one was a rescue. The rescue had massive separation anxiety and after a shit ton of Condo damage I just started taking her to the shop every day. Employees loved her and that lasted 10 years.

My last lab, Somba, was the best dog on the planet. Not the smartest like my Aussie is but the best all around dog. She was obtained from a Mom and pop breeder and grew up with the river as her best friend. She used to jump up on the engine cover of our Sebring, we would toss a 1/2 full water bottle off the bow, and she would run through the boat and leap off the bow, go under water while swimming, and come straight up and grab the water bottle.

Great dogs.

If youre dog is still a spazz at home....try one of those dog vest/shirt thing a man jigs....security blanket. Don't really use it now, but my hyper ass rotty would just freeze sometimes...lol. Funny as shit. You swore we wrapped her like a mummy. Calmed her down big time. Until the training/crate training kicks in

Just got back from a 1st walk with an ‘Easy Walk Harness’ …. 1000 times better …. So much easier on both of us …. No idea how the thing works so well …. But I can actually ‘walk’ now , instead of feeling like I’m trying to stop a flippin train ! 😂
Does this mean you’re not going to give her up? I already warned my wife I might be bringing home a friend for Bozo

We just came back from Parker yesterday and our 6 yr old Aussie partook in some special chews. Made the drive home quite comfortable.

This pooch just cannot settle the F down. He did yesterday. ;)
