I don't like the three drawer system on the Kenmore. If you don't close the door just right, it leaks cold air. When are we going to see pics of the new cave.:D

So, I kinda need a new fridge for my new house. Went out shopping this weekend and found two that fit my budget and styles that I liked.

Looking at this GE

http://products.geappliances.com/ApplProducts/Dispatcher?REQUEST=SpecPage&Sku=GFE29HMDES

And this Kenmore Elite

http://www.sears.com/kenmore-elite-...p-04672053000P?prdNo=1&blockNo=1&blockType=G1

The GE is $1950 all day every day and the Kenmore will be $2199 on Black Friday. :cool
All Kenmore refrigerators are made by Frigidaire.....Make sure you also check out the comparable Frigidaire if you are looking a the Kenmore.

Interestingly enough if you have a frigidaire and need service .......they send Sears :D

I have all Kenmore stuff here in the new hous we just bought.....seems to be good stuff!

If the Kenmore is made by LG which it most likely is then I would stay away.

Paul, I looked at the Frigidaire, it's basically the same except not on sale. :grumble:

Does LG make GE? I forget what the dude at the appliance store said.

The front of freezer pulls open and then you have three draws that will pull out. Most bottom freezers are a chest and the whole chest pulls out. It a much better set-up.

The bottom "drawer" is a chest that pulls out with the door. That one skinny drawer in the freezer is dumb though. You can fit about a pizza box in there.

Lately I have become a fan of Samsung. I have a GE and Samsung and they are nearly identical but the Samsung makes ice better. They make nice televisions too. I know its hard to swallow the name though.;)

Samsung is nice. The in-laws have their TVs and Fridge. But their fridges don't have the ice maker in the door like these two do.

Check with Goedeker's Appliances on line. They are slow to deliver, but right on the prices. I've purchased a number of items for 4 houses in the past 3 years. Looked all over, could not beat their prices.

Goedekers can eat my ass with a wooden spoon. That guy is a scum. His business practices are shady and he's actually lost several major lines. That, and the fact that he screwed over my in laws on a $5,000 Dacor Stove makes me not want to go there.

And, the GE is cheaper at another local store vs him.

As I stated, they were slow every time with delivery, but I could not find prices in Phoenix, Vegas, and Los Angeles to compete with them. They even sent my '10 year warranty cards' for everything I bought. SORRY if they don't work for you...

When did that all change. Kenmore used to be Whirlpool.

Whirlpool used to be the shiznit but I've had too many problems and won't buy Whirlpool anything anymore. Last item we bought was a Samsung washer because the fanchy schmancy whirlpool at the river took a dump. Price to fix was more than price to buy new Samsung on sale. Father in law was ready to buy the Whirlpool and I said let's look at this Samsung. Fridges, Microwaves, washers. All given me problem.

I think it was about 5-7 years ago....Whirlpool had been a stable manufacturer for years but their quality went south and Sears found a new partner on refrigerators......not sure who does their other appliances but if you look at refers and freezers you will see identical products from both companies.

I would also look at Samsung. I have been happy with their products. Have a garage fridge that I bout 8 years ago that has worked great. In the last year I purchased a New fridge for the House and took a few year old LG one to the River house. The Samsung is MUCH MUCH better than the LG.

I have also purchased Samsung Washer and Dryer to replace Whirlpool. In fairness the Samsung pair is only like 5 months old but so far very pleased. Samsung does not innovate but they do seem to have their quality under control.

Agreed there......bought a Samsung front load pair almost 3 years ago on Black Friday for the River house.......way better than the Whirlpool Gold FL machines we bought the year before........I'd switch e'm out if it wasn't such a Pain in the A$$.:D

Just ran this by my son, who is in a position to know...anyway he says either or, he'd suggest the Elite, but no matter what you buy get the extended warranty, all of these things are full of electronics these days and those electronics are very expensive to replace.

I'm guessing you bought a "floor model", right? He was able to sell appliances with fixed pricing (such as Viking) cheaper than the other guys because he would wheel a stove out to his showroom floor, then call it a floor model and ship it off. Not to mention, he really is a weasel in real life.

Thanks. The Kenmore has a 10 year warranty on the compressor, the GE only has a 1 year warranty on everything.

Fuck no. :cool :thumbsup And if she'd do it, it'd make this much easier. Leaning towards the Kenmore due to the warranty.

I didn't know Kenmore was made by LG?

Anyhow, all my appliances are LG. The fridge however, was a lot more than the two you listed. None of the appliances have had a single issue, in the five years I've had them. The dishwasher and the fridge were the top on the line models. The dishwasher is damn near silent. You dont know its running until the buzzer goes off. The fridge has been flawless, but the ice maker is a poor design. It's small and isn't good for more than a couple glasses of ice. I have an under the counter clear ice maker in the bar, so I don't really care.

I'd recommend the LG stuff no problem with the exception of the ice maker. Maybe the newer ones have a better design????

In my garage I have a Kenmore Elite. It somehow survives the 110 degree Arizona summers. Another 10 year old rock solid appliance. :thumbsup

We just picked up this one for my daughter. PFE29PSDSS, it lists anywhere from $2600-$2900 and we picked it up from Warehouse Discount Center in Torrance been around for 30 years 6 locations.. First time in and we got the fridge for $2097.00! We jumped on it Friday night and they delivered Monday. I'll try and find the guys card if you're interested.

love the dual ice trays, love the dual cooling units, all the drawers and sliding insides, folding insides are all a nice touch. i was concerned at first with the french doors that we'd be "digging" in the freezer a lot but it works out pretty good. id skip the 3 drawer units. that 3rd unit is a waste of space... sure u get 1' of space that can be either freezer or fridge, but you'd dropping a lot of total space for it. the samsungs also kicks out the internal freezer drawer when you pull it open while other brands u have to go digging for it.

the rest of our appliances are all frigidaire gallery but MEH... the dishwasher is only like 3 months old and already has had to be fixed twice. frigidaire = junk.

We recently bought a kenmore elite. Same one you are looking at. The extra 2.5 feet of space is a lot in a refrigerator. The freezer with the 3 drawers is really nice. The ice maker is small but is fast enought to never run out with normal use. The ice is almost clear which is a bfd to me.

That's my 2 cents on the kenmore.

Ended up buying the 31sqft Kenmore Elite today.

Got an add in the paper yesterday that Sears was having a sale... the 31'er was going for $2199 (the black Friday price), and the 28sq footer (again, Kenmore, was originally like $2000?, different from the one I mentioned earlier) we were looking at was $1799. So we go to the store planning on buying the 28'er. Get to looking at the two, and I just liked the 31 better. The drawers were nicer, shelves that flip up/slide out of the way for tall items, better lighting, but not worth $400 extra to me.

Then the salesman tells us the 28'er is marked down to $1700 (tag was on it). Then, we learn that the 31'er is also on sale/marked down, just no tag (they had a 10% off sale also). Plus, another 5% off for paying with a Sears card (was going to pay cash, but now I'll just pay it off on the first bill). So, I paid $1880 for the fridge. :champagne: $69 delivery fee and they can wrassle that big bastard into place while I sit back and watch.
