I know the old myth of renaming your boat and it being bad luck. What about taking the name off and not renaming it? Still the same bad mojo?

Thanks,

You're a grown-ass man!
You do what you want, when you want!
Don't let some silly superstition hold you back from whatever it is you want to do!!

*Did I mention that my boat is broke most of the time for some strange reason?:D

Same here! I found out my boat was named "Strange Brew" 6 years after I named her Damn Boat. The words "Mother Fucker! fell out of my mouth.... 😁

I'm gonna strip the name off mine and do the ritual then put it back on.

Had enough bad luck the past couple years. :grumble:

It's actually not for me, our boat doesn't have a name and I intend to keep it that way. A buddy just bought a new to him boat and he doesn't like the name. I told him just change it and if you have a run of bad luck sell the thing and get another one. :finger

I actually did a little renaming ceremony on my first boat. I thought it was cursed. Every time it went on the the water it went to the shop immediately afterward. There was always something to deal with it seemed. I know boats are typically spendy endeavors but this one was ridiculous!! It had no name when I took ownership of it but I wasn't sure if it had ever been named before, which some believe in it self is bad luck. So I did some research about naming or changing the name of a boat. Found pretty much the same thing as TPC posted. We did the whole deal pretty much, champagne and and all, and named her. Got rid of the boat not too long after that but never had a phone call from the new owner complaining about problems with the boat. Did it help? Who knows? But it made me feel better about it not having a name. Now, my last two boat have been Halletts. A 240 and a 210. Neither of which were named that I know of, and I never had a lick of trouble with either. Could it be that they are just hands down better caliber of boats than my first? Idk? My brother tells me the first boat had a name and was nothing but trouble, the last 2 have no names and have been flawless. (Knock on wood) he says leave the name off or I'll have trouble, but me being a kinda old school nautical kinda guy I feel that it may need a name. For now it'll remain nameless. Who knows what the future will hold though. Just my experience and .02

...My Sanger Runner has the name Flat Broke on both sides... ...Unfortunately it is handpainted on top of clear coat over or a couple of different blended candy colors I would love to take the name off only,...I'm in fear since the boat is a 1974 and since I don't know when the name was painted on,...the name might still show up as the candies around the name might be somewhat faded???...Dunno???...

I don't know why you guys would want to fuck with Posiedon the way you are...

The lore is there because others fucked with it and things didn't turn out all that well for them...
