Wife and I bought a new to us 5th wheel this year and it was previously stored in the sun for a couple of years which caused the graphics to dry and Crack. I removed all of them and most of the residue. Still need to go over it again before a good wax. Issue is, the fiberglass yellowed slightly and you can still see where the old graphics were.

I don't think it's that big of a deal nut the wife can't stand it so we are looking into a wrap. Anyone ever do a whole RV? What should I expect the price to be and how long do wraps last?

Why not just replace the decals?

A professional detailer might be able to correct it.
I would reach out to one and ask.

Also wrap will be a pretty penny, might as well put that towards paint and be done with it.

The wrap will just start to fail in a few years depending on how it’s stored (inside or outside) I would replace just the graphics or look into having the whole rig painted.

Not opposed to just restriping biggest issue I have is the front cap was painted and then the decals put over the paint. Was pretty difficult to get those decals off some of the paint ended up coming with it black paint on a white trailer really stands out. At a minimum we're looking at having custom vinyl graphics done in some of the bigger white areas and the front cap and then a clay bar and buff to try to get some of the yellowing to blend in.

I would paint the yellow areas and then keep it plain - Un stickered ….

The paint takes the wax better and is easier to maintain than fiberglass…

Just remove everything of value before dropping it off.
While I was having some fiberglass replaced by insurance on my old toy hauler my generator went missing.
Personally I think it was an inside job.
The work performed was great, just wouldn’t use them again.

I can't imagine what a wrap on an RV would cost. I stopped by a place here locally that does great work and has done quite a few wraps. They just were finishing a brand new Vette from the local dealer across the street. It was one of the owners vehicles. Name on the front of the dealership is John Elway Chevrolet. ;)

Just to get a couple stripes, from the hood to the back, was $1200. Nothing fancy, like a couple stripes like an 60's mustang or SS Camaro. Hood to trunk.

$1200.

Being as I can't afford baller status, I passed. I'll go be poor in my hood with no stripes.

That’s sucks. Was the gen a portable unit? Kind of a pain to remove the built in style.

Couple rolls quality masking tape, couple newspapers, couple cans of semigloss black, you're there. If it's a ride that semigloss/satin would look appropriate on, that sheen always dries perfect. If you need gloss, I've never been able to get shaky cans to come out good enough.

If you thought the cost to replace a water heater is expensive, wait to you get a price on painting a 5er.

Yeah kind of afraid to open that door but happy wife.....
I'm hoping for the 3-5 range but guessing in the 8-10 range but fearing in the 13 -15 range

DONT ! The fiberglass will check crack all to hell under it do to the higher temperatures . go look at older motorhomes where there are dark graphics the fiberglass will be cracked. keep your colors light and just have new decals made or have them painted on where the old decals where .

I had one side on my motorhome that always faced the sun and looked bad and faded. I bought a high speed polisher and buffed it oit with rubbing compound then waxed it. Turned out great. It was an 8 hour ordeal though.

Update

I was able to get almost all of the residue and fading corrected on the sides of the coach but the front cap was a no-go. I decided the best way would be to sand it off and prep it for either a wrap or paint

After reading the threads about the wraps and how they fade especially when left outside in the direct sun I don't think I want to go that route. What do you think fresh paint would cost for the front cap?

I am half inclined to just mask it all off and rattle can it myself with a good enamel spray paint. Pretty simple design might not look too bad?

Just buy a Harbor Freight sprayer to paint it. So you don't hurt your lil girly finger tip with the rattle cans. 😂
